This seminar course is offered to those students who are fulfilling the requirements of the Honours degree program in Political Science. We will focus on the development of Canadian political thought through the work of George Parkin Grant (1969), James Tully (1995), and Frances Widdowson and Albert Howard (2008). It is imperative that students come to class prepared to discuss the weekly assigned readings.

Grading:

Seminar Presentation...... 30%

Research Paper………...... 50%

Final Assignment……...... 20%

SEMINAR PRESENTATION - Each student is required to lead the class in a 30 minute discussion on the topic of their research paper. This grade will be assigned by the Instructor. Details will be handed out in the 2nd week of class.

RESEARCH PAPER – Each student will prepare a 15 page research paper on a topic of their own choosing that is cleared with the Instructor.

FINAL ASSIGNMENT – This will be a take-home assignment based on the readings that are assigned for this course.
