Recruitment Campaign
The Verdun Borough is launching a call for candidates to serve as new members on the Conseil jeunesse de Verdun (CJV), Verdun's youth council. Consisting of fifteen (15) volunteer members—men and women between the ages of 12 and 25—who are representative of the geographical, linguistic, social and cultural diversity of Verdun's youth, the CJV has the mandate of advising the Mayor and the elected officials on all matters concerning youth and ensuring that youth's concerns are taken into consideration in the Borough's decisions.
Eligibility criteria
To become a member of the CJV, the applicant must:
- Show interest in getting involved in youth matters and help advance the progress of the conditions of Verdun's youth.
- Be between 12 and 25 years of age.
- Show willingness and availability to take part in the Council's monthly meetings and in the meetings of its committees in charge of examining particular matters (approximately 3 hours a week).
- Live in Verdun or have a business here for the past year or more.
- In addition, in order to allow new voices to be heard, to limit the number of mandates involving representation responsibilities that may be held at the same time and to ensure the non-partisan status of the Conseil jeunesse de Verdun, the applicant must not be a member of the Forum jeunesse de l’Île de Montréal, nor a member of the Executive of a political party or union organization.
