Special Training Announcement
2013 Central Region Basic Fire Investigation Course
This is a basic fire investigation course designed to provide the student with the knowledgethrough lecture and hands-on exercises to understand the fire investigation processes. Thecourse will cover the relevant investigative disciplines by incorporating nationally recognized standards, referencematerials, and guidelines in the course curriculum.
All classroom lectures will be hosted by the MiddlesexCountyFireAcademy, 1001 Fire Academy Dr., Sayreville, New Jersey. Classes will commence on September 10, 2013 and runconsecutive Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 1900 to 2200 hours until December 12, 2013. Therewill be two Saturday practical exercises held, one in October and the other in November and will runfrom 8am to 4pm.
The fee for the course is $400.00 for members and $450.00 for non-members (Note: the nonmemberfee includes a one year membership in the New Jersey Chapter). Fees include all coursematerials, student text books and lunch on the two practical day sessions.
Class size is limited to 24 students and the registration form must be received by September 3, 2013

Prior to the start of the Basic Fire Investigation class, the student should have completed the Fireand Explosion Investigations: Utilizing NFPA 1033 and 921 from CFI Trainer.net and any other2 of the remaining four listed below:

• Ethics and the Fire Investigator
• Fire Investigator Scene Safety
• The Scientific Method for Fire and Explosion Investigation: Updated 2009
CFI Trainer.net is free and will be referred to throughout the class. It can be found online at You must register to be able to complete the assignments and will receive atranscript of the training completed. Once registered, the site allows you to proceed at your ownpace, over a number of days if needed. During the first week of class the transcripts of yourtraining completion will be collected.
