School News

During the Month of May our School concentrated on the virtue of Peacefulness. Practicing peacefulness helps to create a calm mind free from worry.

When you are peaceful, you respect others and their differences.

People around you feel calm and safe. Without peace, no one is safe.

People get hurt. Fighting doesn’t solve problems, and no one ever really

wins a war. With peacefulness, any problem can e solved. Peace in the

world begins with peace in your heart.

Home and School News: We are really busy with the FUN FAIR planning. The next Home and School meeting is on June 18 at 7pm in the French Room. The Annual General Meeting will take place and we are hoping to fill some of our executive positions. New faces are always welcome and encouraged to attend. It is a great way to keep in touch with what is going on at your child’s school. Also studies have shown that parents/guardians that are involved in their child’s school do an average of 20% better in school. We look forward to seeing you there

If you are interested in knowing more about what Home and School is about. Please feel free to call or email me at 538-1278 or at .. Home and School “the parents’ voice in education”.

FUN FAIR: Friday, June 7th 5:30-7:30. There will be some new additions this year. The addition of Little Rays Reptile Show , Jimmy Lamb’s Pulled Pork Burger and a CARSHOW. Along with our popular games, BBQ and basket raffles. Punch Cards will be available to use for all events. BBQ will be cash only.

If you have grocery bags that can you can donate, please send them to the school office with your child. They are very useful for the children to carry their prizes.

Virtues Art Fair Day: On June 4th our students will be hosting many local artists to a full day of art at our school. Every student will be attending art workshops throughout the day. The theme for our Art Fair Day will be based around all the virtues that our school has been practicing throughout the school year. At the end of the day we hope to create a large mural that will hang in our school that will represent these virtues and our community. Thank you to everyone that donated recyclables or made a cash donation to our art day. If you still wish to make a donation, we would be happy to accept any donation as you can imagine how costly it is to have a complete day of art supplies for 230 students. THANK YOU

Spring Concert: We are looking for to our Spring Concerton Thursday, June 13. Due to Fire Marshall Regulations on the number of people we can allow in the gymnasium at one time, we are offering two performances. We encourage you to only attend one

performance and as many

parents and grandparents as

possible to take in the afternoon

performance. The performance

times are 1:15 and in the evening

at 6:30. We still need allchildren tobeat both concerts.

Library News

Please make sure that all school library books are returned by June 14 so that we can get the library prepared for September. If you have lost books, please see Mrs. Wrye to make arrangements for replacement. Continue to have a great summer of reading by visiting your local community library and the use of the Annapolis Valley Regional Library Bookmobile.

Cupcakes

Mrs. K Moody/MacLean’s class is requesting decorated cupcakes for the Fun Fair Cupcake Walk. If you could send 12 single-wrappeddecorated cupcakes in on June 7th, it would

be greatly appreciated.

Dress Code: As the warming weather is here (yeah!) we have to revisit our dress code. Each child was given a copy of the dress code at the beginning of the year and again a few weeks ago. Please review this policy with your child. Please be aware of short lengths and any exposed undergarments. If you do not have a copy and wish to see one, just let the school office know and we will be happy to send a copy home with your student.

Yearbooks: With two classes moving on this year, it became too expensive for the Home and School and school to cover the cost of giving each child a yearbook. If you wish to have a copy of this memory book, please send in your request to the school office. You may pay for the book now, or when it arrives (late June) The cost of the book is $15.00. The yearbook actually costs more to produce, but the school is covering the additional cost. Requests from Grade 5 and 6 students will be honoured first.

CambridgeGarden: Thank you to Jeff Reid and his family for volunteering to keep our gardens looking so beautiful. Thank you Reid family!

Magazine Fundraiser: Reminder that you may order magazine anytime on the our campaign code is NS3048.

Thank you to all our community supporters, volunteers, parents, guardians, staff and students that have made this a wonderful
