January 12, 2017, SAIN Minutes
Call to order 8:10 a.m.
Members Present: Laura, Emily, Patty, Cassandra, Janette, Brittni
Quorum – yes
Approval of Minutes: December minutes were approved.
Financial Report:
Financial report for December was tabled until meeting on the 21st.
2017 budget was tabled.
Fundraising Update:
SAIN 2017 calendar – Only 10 left and Cassandra has them sold.
Will post a thank you on FB for supporters.
Need to keep taking photos for next year.
Bony Pony fundraiser – Perhaps suggest a monetary donation or amount towards a
certain item like blankets.
Will post a thank you on FB.
Possibly have Cheri on the advisory board?
Tack Sale – No date yet. Cassandra will email Doug Wood. Possible dates are June 10th
or 24th to coordinate with Showstoppers 4-H club.
Maddy V. is rodeo queen and would like to make an appearance and help.
Can start soliciting raffle donation items.
Possible riding demos with SAIN horses.
Educational events separate? Didn’t go well last year.
Check into getting access to building on Thursday for tack cleaning/pricing rather than moving tack multiple times for cleaning, etc.
Upcoming Events:
Country Living Expo – Motion was approved to purchase chairs from Costco for events.
Dash and Splash – Will have a table from 9-2. Possibly have honor society kids help for
community service.
Volunteer Update:
Patty will be stepping down the end of January.
Still need to finish lists of volunteers to call (Dee, Emily). Finish by meeting on the 21st
so Patty has her files updated before she leaves..
Foster Health Update:
Hotshot was started on bute and is doing well other than loose stool. Decision was made to pick a date after Rose returns on the 17th for euthanasia. Suggestion was made to move Gladys there. Brittni will talk to Rose and make arrangements with Emily.
Laura put the word out at the clinic for a board vet, could be an advisory role.
Foster Training & Coordination Update:
Emily has not heard from Diedre about horse assessments, will contact her.
Speck is in training with Meghan and is staying sound.
Willow is doing well.
Belle is being ridden and doing good.
Some interest in the goats, Emily and Brittni will follow up.
Media Update:
Brittni will come up with announcement about Hotshot and send out for board approval.
Will change the cover photo on FB each month to highlight different horses.
Will post on FB about the need for storage for hay and tack.
Misc. Items:
Job description meeting on the 21st, 9 am at DCI
Possible tack cleaning/organization party for the honor kids. Needs to be during office hours or have a vet staff available. Laura will talk to Lindsey and Sally about volunteering.
Janette will start a flyer for open board positions.
Patty will check into Trail Safety seminar at Cowboy Campsite.
