CALL FOR TURKEY-PAK JOINT PROJECT PROPOSALS

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (the MoST) under the framework of “Executive Protocol to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Regarding Technical and Scientific Cooperation” signed in Ankara on 1 June 2005, invite Turkish and Pakistani universities, research centres and institutes to submit joint proposals for scientific and technological research projects.

Other areas of interest may be included by mutual consent.

GUIDELINES FOR PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

The partners should come to an agreement with each other using their own means of communication and jointly develop and complete their project proposal before submitting it to TÜBİTAK and the MoST. TÜBİTAK and the MoST do not match the collaborating partners.

Only jointly submitted proposals will be eligible for evaluation.

The proposals should be written in English.

The relevant application forms (distributed by TÜBİTAK and the MoST) which are approved the by the heads of institutions of the project co-directors should be duly filled.

Curricula vitae of both research teams should be attached.

Deadline for submission of proposals is 1st of September each year and the qualified proposals will be started on the following year.

Each coordinator should submit two printed copies and one CD of the proposal in each country. Identical files should be presented to both TÜBİTAK and the MoST

EVALUATION OF PROPOSALS

Proposals will be evaluated independently by TÜBİTAK and the MoST using their own procedures and only those approved by both sides will be funded. The qualified projects will be started in the beginning of the following year.

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

In the exchange of project researchers, the sending Party covers the costs of international travel to the town where the joint work will be executed and the receiving Party meets the boarding and lodging expenses. The financial coverage of the expenses of the visiting project researchers by the receiving Party will consist of the following:

In Turkey

Free accommodation in a university guest house or equivalent

Daily allowance: Short visits (up to 25 days) USD 15.00 per day

Longer visits (up to 2 months)USD 400.00 per month

(equivalent in Turkish currency)

In Pakistan

Free accommodation in a a University/R&D Organization's guest house

Daily allowance: Short visits (up to 25 days) Rs 550.00 per day

Longer visits (up to 2 months)Rs 15,000.00 per month

The duration of the projects should not exceed three years, and the total duration of visits in one direction of a project should not be more than two months a year.

Besides the above-mentioned support for exchange of project researchers, the Parties may provide additional research funds to their respective project teams, if they consider it appropriate. Equal funding of either side is desirable.
