PETROMAKS

Call for proposals for funding for researcher projects, knowledge-building projects with user involvement and user-led innovation projects on selected topics under the auspices of PETROMAKS.
Project start: Summer/autumn 2006.

PETROMAKS covers both basic and applied research. This invitation to compete for project funding is a call for proposals for researcher projects, knowledge-building projects with user involvement, innovation projects and funding for pre-projects/concept development. Researcher projects must feature an integral element of education, and applications for knowledge-building projects with user involvement that feature an integral element of education will be given priority. Applications for knowledge-building projects with user involvement submitted by research institutions will take precedence over researcher projects.

PETROMAKS is intended to help bring to fruition the OG21 strategy – Oil and Gas in the 21st Century, based on the efforts invested in OG21 and an analysis of the overall project portfolio. This call invites applications for financial support for new user-led innovation projects, knowledge-building projects with user involvement and researcher projects in the following fields:

Exploration

Enhanced recovery

Cost-efficient drilling and drainage

Subsea and downhole processing

The cost-efficient transportation of gas from the field

E-operation/integrated operations

The call also invites applications for:

  • Post doctoral research fellowship
  • Personal visiting researcher grant

This call for applications seeks to promote:

  • Projects addressing challenges in the areas of exploration, production and transport under cold climate and arctic in ecologically sensitive areas.
  • Technologyandprojectswhich promotes environmentally sound and safe petroleum activities, with special emphasis on the northern regions.
  • Cooperation with USA og Russia
  • Applications involving concepts contributing to cost reduction on NCS.
  • Initiativesstrengthening petroleumrelatedbusiness development both nationally and internationally
  • Education as part of the projects.

The deadline for applications isMarch 15th 2006. The electronic application form will be closed at 6.00 pm.

Applicants are asked to take note of the following:

  • All projects are expected to have a neutral or positive effect on the environment. This has to be described in the application.
  • PETROMAKS wants to support larger cooperative projects involving both R&D institutions and commercial companies.
  • The applications must address the basic goals of the programme as stated in the Programme plan
  • Applications must be formally supported by the organisation of the applicant.
  • Applicationsfor support of KMB and FP must put special emphasis on describing the ”state-of-the-art” and on the description of hypothesis and methodology.
  • International experts/referees may be used to assess competence building projects and researcher’s projects, meaning they must be written in English. User driven innovation projects may be written in Norwegian.
  • All project applications shall comply with the template provided in the guidelines with a view to content and length. Please note that the project description should not normally exceed 10 pages written with 12-pitch font size.
  • Mandatory attachments: Project description according to the template given for the relevant type of project.
  • Applications outside of the topics identified in this call for proposals will normally be rejected
  • Applications which are not received in time will be rejected
  • Applications which do not comply with the template may be rejected on formal grounds.

HSE:Awaiting the decisions on a renewed HSE research effort from 2007, no financing is available for HSE projects at this call for proposals.
