April - June 2015

Dear all,

Please note that the deadline to submit applications to attend the 32nd session of the Human Rights Council, the 25th session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group as well as the sessions of treaty bodies taking place in Geneva between April and June 2016 is: 5 January 2016.

Below are the States that will be examined by the UPR and Treaty Bodies for the said period:

·  Some of the issues that will be discussed at the 32nd session of the Human Rights Council (June 2016) are:

-  Independence of judges and lawyers

-  Rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and association

-  Transnational corporations and human rights

-  Human rights of migrants

-  Extrajudicial, summary and arbitrary executions

-  Trafficking in persons, especially in women and children

-  Rights of persons with disabilities

-  Prevention and elimination of child, early and forced marriage

-  Adoption of the UPR Working Group reports of: Namibia, Niger, Mozambique, Estonia, Paraguay, Belgium, Denmark, Palau, Somalia, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Latvia, Sierra Leone, Singapore

Please also verify the new criteria for selection established by the members of the Board of Trustees of the Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples to make sure that you are eligible to apply to attend the sessions you are interested in. The new criteria are available on the website of the Fund.
