Long Beach Memorial and Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital Long Beach, Nursing Research Council invites you to showcase your evidenced based practice/research findings at our 8th Annual Nursing Research Conference Integrating Research, Education, Practice, & Health Care Policy on May 12, 2016.

We are proud to provide a forum for staff nurses, nursing students and our academic partners to share their ideas and best practices. The purpose of the poster session is to present original research findings, and share new and innovative nursing evidenced based practice and research ideas.

Abstracts for the conference will be selected for poster presentation. Reports of completed research or for a clinical/innovative project are acceptable.

All poster presenters must register for the conference and are required to be in attendance to answer questions during poster sessions.

AWARDS: Awards will be given to the best poster for high quality and innovation.

All winners will be recognized during the conference on Thursday May 12, 2016

Deadline for posters abstracts: MARCH 18, 2016

Authors will be notified by March 28, 2016 of acceptance.

SELECTION PROCESS: Each presenting author must submit the attached submission form. A limited number of abstracts will be accepted based on conference space constraints and a competitive review process. In order to be accepted for review, abstracts must adhere to the guidelines set forth in this Call for Abstracts and must be received by e-mail attachment no later than March 18, 2016.


Guidelines for Abstracts

Research Abstracts (completed study within past 3 years)

If you are submitting a research abstract

1.  Purpose, aims, hypotheses or research questions

2.  Background and significance

3.  Methods (design, sample characteristics, measures or instruments, procedures for data collection and data analysis)

4.  Data findings, results and conclusions

5.  Implications for practice and further study

Clinical or Innovative Project Abstracts (within past 3 years)

(QI/PI, Program Evaluation, EBP Project, Lean Project):

1.  Purpose and/or objectives of the project

2.  Background and significance

3.  Description of methods or procedure

4.  Evidence of results or outcomes of the project and how you measured the results—we want to see your data!

5.  Conclusions and evidence of impacts of the project on patient care quality, costs or outcomes.

Abstract Format:

§  Abstract should be no more than 300 words.

§  Microsoft Word format – submit electronically please.

§  Use Calibri, 12 point font, single-spaced, with 1 inch margins.

§  CAPITALIZE TITLE.

§  DO NOT PLACE NAMES ON ABSTRACT PAGE.

§  Abstract Submission form must list all authors’ names and include the presenter’s name with an asterisk

§  Full corresponding author contact information.
