The California Energy Commission (CEC) will jointly conduct a workshop with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to introduce the Renewable Energy Transmission Initiative (RETI) 2.0 and receive public input on the project goals and process. This workshop will give the public and stakeholders an opportunity to learn about the purpose, goals and work that will be considered for this initiative.
CPUC President Michael Picker and CEC Chair Robert B. Weisenmiller will conduct the workshop. Representatives of the Governor’s Office, California Independent System Operator, and other Commissioners of the CPUC and the Energy Commission, including a quorum of Commissioners, may also attend and participate in the workshop.

The next event in the ongoing Thought Leaders Speaker Series will be a panel discussion on autonomous vehicles that will address questions such as the current, future, and futurist applications of autonomous vehicles; the challenges and opportunities for innovators, safety regulators, and urban planners; and the possible impact on various private sector transportation business models, including Transportation Network Companies (e.g., UberX, Lyft) and taxis, among others (e.g., car-sharing), and their accompanying regulations.
The session is free and open to the public and will be webcast.

Panelists include: Sarah Hunter, Head of Policy, GoogleX; Bernard Soriano, Deputy Director of Risk Management, California Department of Motor Vehicles; Dr. Steven Shladover, Program Manager, California Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology at UC Berkeley; and Ashwini Chhabra, Policy Director, Uber.
