CALIBRATION OF MASS FLOW CONTROLLERS FOR

DASIBI MULTI-GAS CALIBRATORS

Note: In accordance with technical manual perform all cleaning of optics and analyzer prior to calibration. Multi-gas calibrator must be warmed up 12 hours prior to calibration.

  1. Press “ESC” on the 5008 to return to Main Menu. Press “4” (TEST). Press “3” (EDIT PARAMETERS). Press “8” (DEFAULT PARAMETERS). Press “5” (PRESSURE).
  1. Calibrator will ask “ARE YOU SURE”. Press the  to change “N” to “Y” and press “ENT”.
  1. Press “6” (TEMPERATURE). Calibrator will ask “ARE YOU SURE”. Press the  to change “N” to “Y” and press “ENT”.
  1. Press “ENT” twice. Press “4” (INTERNAL CAL.). Press “5” (PRESSURE).
  1. Obtain pressure reading from local pressure gauge. Correct for current conditions and convert to multi-gas calibrator scale using the following formula. [Local gauge – 1.18 (summer months) or 1.175 (winter months)] * 25.4 (Convert In. Hg. to Mm. Hg.).
  1. Enter pressure under corrected reading. Press “ENT”. 5008 will show Pressure Calibration data and table with raw and corrected readings. Press “ENT”.
  1. Remove temperature probe (Figure 3). Place temperature probe and calibrated temperature probe in close proximity without touching and with as little ambient influence as possible. Allow temperature reading to stabilize.
  1. Press “6” (TEMPERATURE). Enter temperature under corrected reading. Press “ENT”. 5008 will show Temperature Calibration data and table with raw and corrected readings. Press “ENT”. Replace temperature probe.
  1. Press “3” (EDIT PARAMETERS). Press “8” (DEFAULT PARAMETERS). Press “1” (AIR FLOW METER).
  1. Calibrator will ask “ARE YOU SURE”. Press the  to change “N” to “Y” and press “ENT”.
  1. Press “2” (GAS FLOW METER). Calibrator will ask “ARE YOU SURE”. Press the  to change “N” to “Y” and press “ENT”.
  1. Remove connection to outlet of Air Mass Flow controller (Figure 2) and connect BIOS hose. Connect Zero Air output of bench to Zero Air Hookup on back of calibrator (Figure 1).
  1. Press “ESC” on the 5008 to return to Main Menu. Press “2” (CONTROL). Press “3” (MANUAL CONTROL).
  1. Press “2” (FLOWS). Enter 6.00 for Air Flow. Press “ENT”. Press “ENT” again to bypass Gas Flow. Air flow will automatically start. Allow BIOS readings to stabilize. Take 10 ten average readings. Record on Air Mass Flow Controller Calibration sheet.
  1. Repeat step 11 for Air Flows of 8.00, 10.00, 12.00 and 14.00.
  1. After last reading press “ENT”. Press “4” (STOP CONTROL). Calibrator will ask “TERMINATE ALL CALIBRATIONS IN PROGRESS?”. Press the  to change “N” to “Y” and press “ENT”.
  1. Reduce output pressure of Zero Air Dryer to 16 pounds.
  1. Remove BIOS hose connection to Air Mass Flow controller. Reconnect connection to Air Mass Flow controller. Remove connection to outlet of Gas Mass Flow controller (Figure 2) and connect BIOS hose. Connect Zero Air output of bench to Gas Inlet #1 on back of calibrator (Figure 1 Zero Air Hookup for Gas Mass Flow Controller).
  1. Press “3” (MANUAL CONTROL) on 5008. Press “2” (FLOWS). Press “ENT” to bypass Air Flow. Enter 10.00 for Gas Flow. Enter “1” for Gas Inlet. Press “ENT”.
  1. Gas Flow will automatically start. Allow BIOS to stabilize. Take 10 ten average readings. Record on Gas Mass Flow Controller Calibration sheet.
  1. Press “2” (FLOWS). Press “ENT” to bypass Air Flow. Enter 20.00 for Gas Flow. Enter “1” for Gas Inlet. Press “ENT”. Allow BIOS to stabilize. Take 10 ten average readings and record on Gas Mass Flow Controller Calibration sheet.
