Calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN)

Packed and bulk product may be stored indoor, covered, dry, clean and ventilated warehouses.

Possible storage of packed product in open storage sites in a non-warm period of year (from 15th September till 15th April) if the product is protected from atmosphere precipitation, moisture (rain, snow, bag should not stand in a water and water cannot aggregate on the bag) and direct sun rays. Bulk product cannot be stored outside.

Product cannot be stored outside in a warm period of year (from 15th April till 15th September). In a warm period of year product also cannot be stored under the tent in order to avoid “greenhouse effect”. Product cannot be kept in the temperature above 30º C.

Strictly forbidden to smoke on a storage ground. Product should be kept separately from heating sources or flame, protected from flammable material, reducing agent, acid, alkali, sulphur, chlorate, chloride of lime, chromate, nitrite, permanganate, metals powder (especially zinc), materials that have cuprum, nickel, cobalt or alloys of above mentioned metals in it.

Big bags are stored in a vertical position stowed on racks without any peered nails, sharp wooden chips that can damage the big bag.

In a non-warm period of year (from 15th September till 15th April) Calcium Ammonium Nitrate, packed into 500 kg big bags and stored in piles, cannot be stowed atop one another in more than 4 rows. Using bigger bags, stowage of bags one on another cannot exceed 3 rows.

In a non-warm period of year (from 15th September till 15th April) during transportation of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate, packed in 500 kg big bags via vessels, short storage (up to 8 days) is permitted by stowing bags atop one another in 6 rows. Transporting in this way product adhesion into easy crushable lumps is possible.

In a warm period of year (from 15th April till 15th September) Calcium Ammonium Nitrate, packed into 500 kg big bags and stored in piles, cannot be stowed atop one another in more than 3 rows, Nitrogen fertilizers with sulphur – more than 4 rows. Using bigger bags, stowage of bags one on another cannot exceed 3 rows.

In a warm period of year (from 15th April till 15th September) during transportation of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate, packed in 500 kg big bags via vessels, storage is permitted by stowing bags atop one another in 3 rows.

To be ensured that farms that use this fertilizer do not store it together with hay, straw, grain, diesel and grease.

Avoid storage in hot places or sunshine, tare damage, moisture, pollution with incompatible material (fertilizers, which possess elemental sulphur, urea, NPK, NP and NK urea basis), grease, flammable material.

Height of bulk or packed product piles should be in the way, that the distance from the top of the piles to eaves, balks and lamp holder would remain at least 1 m. Size of piles depends on warehouse layout, but piles should be stacked with at least 1 m around each one for a vehicle to approach if discharge is required in case of emergency.

There should be a sufficient distance between bulk product piles, in order to prevent the contamination with other substances.

Fertilizers are not self-ignitable, but can sustain burning on no-air conditions as well. Heating till melting point and beyond can trigger product fission causing toxic nitrogen oxides and ammonia smoke. Heating regarding no restrictions (over 170ºC) can cause explosion.

Guarantee storage period – 10 months from the date of production.
