In 2016 the Cairns Festival will run from Friday 26 August - Sunday 4 September. Volunteer support at Cairns Festival is essential in making some of our city's BIGGEST community events a reality.
Volunteering is a great way to gain new experiences, meet new people and have a lot of fun.
Luminous Cairns Event Assistant
Luminous Cairns is a photographic project happening throughout the Cairns Festival.
Australian photographer Peter Solness is a pioneer of light- painting and is regarded as Australia's foremost practitioner of this unique style of photography. Peter will host five 'Field of Orbs' events in locations around Cairns. At these events members of the community are invites to become orbsters, spinning specially designed lanterns around their bodies to create beautiful trails of light to be captured in photographs.
Peter requires volunteers to assist with
· set up and pack down
· registering orbsters
· distributing and collecting equipment
· answering questions
· monitoring Field of Orbs sites to ensure participants are safe
Field of Orbs events will take place on:
1. Friday, 26 August - Barr Creek Holloways Beach
2. Tuesday, 30 August - Stratford Magazine
3. Thursday, 1 September - Norman Park, Gordonvale
4. Friday, 2 September - Tanks Arts Centre,
5. Saturday, 3 September - Chinese Garden, Centenary Lakes.
