League Rules (Revised 09/09/2013)

All players, team Captains and the Committee are required to abide by the following rules, regulations and obligations of the MARKYATE & DISTRICT DARTS LEAGUE. These rules govern: the payment by teams of matches; the attendance and behaviour of players and Captains at matches; the high standard of conduct expected by everyone connected, with the League Committee rules.

1.0Players Membership.

Membership of the League is open to anyone of 10 years and over.

To become a playing member of the League you must;

Complete a League registration form to the satisfaction of the League Secretary.

Pay the League additional fee.

2.0Registration Fees.

The amount payable for the season will be as follows:

Annual Registration fee £25.00

Additional fee of £2.00 per player

2.1An annual registration fee is payable by all teams. A team shall not be eligible to play until such time as the registration fee has been paid (unless otherwise agreed by the Committee). The registration fee shall be payable by 31st August every year.

2.2Additional fees. All players are responsible for paying, without demand, their additional fees which they shall pay in full each year to the Treasurer, Fixture Secretary or Secretary with the registration fee.

3.0The Throw.

3.1The length of the throw from the face of the dartboard should be 7ft 93/4ins. The centre of the bullseye should be 5ft 8ins from the floor.

3.2All boards should be in good condition, clearly lit and numbered.

3.3A throw consists of 3 darts.

4.0Match Days.

Matches are to be played on Thursday evenings, commencing at 8.30pm.

5.0Teams.

Teams must consist of a minimum of 6 players. A minimum of 5 players is required for a match to be played.

5.1Teams can sign unregistered players up to December 1st each year. A new player may not play until the Fixtures Secretary has acknowledged the new registration.

5.2Landlords and Landladies can play for either team in a league game in the event that there are not enough registered players available to play.

5.3Transfersbetween teams must be made using the official transfer form. A transfer fee of £2.00 will be payable.

5.4No transfers or registrations can be made after December 1st each year.

5.5Teams not represented will forfeit the match 9.0. In the event that ateam is unable to fulfil a fixture, a member of that team should contact the opposing team and a Committee member to inform them of this.

6.0Match Rules.

6.1Players are nominated by the Captain (or acting Captain). The order of play is determined by a draw. This order may only be changed with the agreement of both team Captains.

6.2The visiting team throws first in the opening leg. The first throw in subsequent gamesalternates until the end of the match.

6.3No player can play in more than one doubles and one singles game during a match.

6.4The winning team is responsible for sending the results card and text to the fixtures Secretary. In the event that a result is not received the match will be deemed to be a draw with away team receiving one point.

6.5The home team is responsible for providing a chalker for each game. The away team is responsible for providing a checker and a caller for each game. Electronic scoreboards can only be used on agreement of both Captains.

6.6No darts are to be removed from the dartboard until the caller has called the score.

6.7The winner of each match is awarded 2 points, the loser none.

6.8In the event of teams finishing the season level on points, leg difference will be used to determine the winner.

6.9In the event of a game being postponed, the home team Captain should inform the Fixtures Secretary of the revised date of the fixture.

6.10A league match consists of:

3 x doubles – one leg of 601, straight start, double finish.

6 x singles – best of 3 legs of 501, straight start, double finish.

7.0League Rules.

7.1In the event of anything arising that is not provided for in the rules, the committee reserves the right to add further rules.

7.2Trophies are the property of the league and cannot be won outright.

7.3In the event that a team/pair/player loses a trophy, they will be required to replace it before Presentation Night.

7.4In the event of a complaint arising details should be sent in writing to the League Secretary within 3 days of the match, along with a protest fee of £5.00. The protest fee will be returned in the event of the protest being upheld.

7.5Each team Captain will be responsible for the behaviour of his/her players.

7.6Food will be provided by the home team.

7.7The Captain shall submit at least two email addresses and all player’s mobile phone numbers to enable each member to be contacted.

7.8If an unregistered player takes part in a match then that team will forfeit the match.

Competition Rules (Revised 09/09/2013)

1.0Entry fees for each competition, is £2.00 per player. All entry fees to be in by 31st January each year.

6.0In the event that a player entering a competition is unable to compete, that player can be replaced by another player provided:

6.1The substitute player has not played in the competition.

6.2The first round of the competition has not been completed.

6.3 The substitute player(s) have/has not already entered the competition (excluding 4’s and pairs, see Competition Rule ).

7.0In the event that two or more 4’s teams or pairs are unable to field a full team/pair then they may combine players to create a full team/pair. Where this is the case a coin will be tossed to determine which part of the draw the combined team/pair will play.

8.0In the event that a team/pair/player is not able to play, the opposition will receive a bye into the next round.

9.0The first named player/pair/team in the draw for each venue is responsible for organising the matches and ensuring the results are returned to a Committee member or Slip End Club. This information will be sent out by email and downloaded onto the website.

10.0The losing player/pair/team is responsible for chalking the next game. A caller is also required to call the scores for each competition played. In the event they do not provide a chalker or organise someone else to chalk on their behalf, they will be ineligible to enter the Competition the following season.

11.0No darts are to be removed from the dartboard until the caller has called the score.

16.0The Competition matches consist of:-

Men’s Singles – Best of 3 legs, 501, Straight start, Double finish.

Men’sDoubles – Best of 3 legs, 601, Straight start, Double finish.

Ladies Singles – Round Robin,3 legs, 501, Straight start, Double finish, each leg counts.

Ladies Doubles – Round Robin, 3 legs, 601, Straight start, Double finish, each leg counts.

Hislops – Best of 3 legs, 501, Double start, Double finish.

Mixed Triples – 2 guys and 1 girl, Best of 3 legs, Straight start, Double finish.

Mixed Doubles – Best of 3 legs, 501, Straight start, Double finish.

Four’s – Best of 3 legs, 1001, Straight start, Double finish.

Team Knockout – 1 leg of doubles, 601, Straight start, Double finish and 6 games of 3 legs, 501, Straight start, Double finish, every leg counts. First team to 11 legs wins the match.
