Board of Education Report

Budget was approved at last meeting
Reflects math coach for elementary schools as well as Chrome Books for grades K-2
Interim Superintendent Mr. Watson is staying for one additional year
New Byrd School principal will be Jodie Craft; previous position was a vice principal of schools in Tenafly

Dr. Weber’s Report/Upcoming Events

PARCC begins next week for 5th grade
Spring Concerts:
5/11, 9am: 4th and 5th grade
5/18, 9am: K-3
Have table to sell first day school supplies and Plum Print
Have someone take videos to post for parents who are unable to attend
Byrd to host Federated meetings
5/17, 9am: Pre-Fed (Board members only)
5/25, 9am: Federated (open to all)
Battle of the Books upcoming, for 4th and 5th grade
5/17: 5th grade Colonial day and 4th grade Water day
5/19: Byrd Dance recital at 7pm (dress rehearsal Friday at 3:30)
5/21: Last HSA general meeting
5/21: 1st grade field trip
5/21: Circus Week, with performance on Friday
5/30 Penguin assembly from Jenkinson’s Farm
5/31: Kindergarten Roundup
6/1: HSA Thank You Luncheon – do an RSVP, this is for all HSA members and all teachers
6/6, 9am: SEPEC meeting (learning center MS/HS)
6/11: School pool party
6/12: 5th grade class night out
6/14: 5th grade pool party
6/15: Field Day
6/21: final day of school early dismissal, with ice cream truck provided

Committee Reports

Byrd Broadway – there will be a committee meeting to discuss feedback after the play
Serenity Garden – still need to install bench; looking into planting flowers in front of the school in the three planters there
Teacher Appreciation Day/Week – perhaps next year spread the treats over the course of the month rather than one-week period
Art Show– sell Plum Print Books, which allow parents to make a hard cover book out of artwork

New Business

School photographs
Harlem Wizards will run a summer camp in Washington Township; marketing the camp would be a fundraiser for Byrd
