MATTERS RAISED IN PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

A member of the public informed the police that a group of young people were congregating in the garden next door to her house and making noise until the early hours. Police to visit member to assess situation.

42/07 DECLARATION OF MEMBERS INTERESTS

Cllrs JR Moon and Mrs A Moon declared an interest in Agenda item 10 and left the room after discussion. Cllr JR Moon declared a personal interest in planning matters as he is on the planning board of AVBC. He remained in the meeting.

43/07 DETERMINATION OF ANY ITEMS TO BE TAKEN IN EXLUSION

Agenda item 15 deferred until meeting to be held 14th May 2007.

44/08 POLICE MATTERS

Members requested to know when the Police Office at the Highfields Complex, Codnor would be operational.

RESOLVED that the Clerk to write to Chief Inspector for information.

45/07 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING

The minutes of the meeting held on 12th March 2007 were accepted and signed.

46/07 CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

a. Cllr Mrs D Nicholls would be standing down and a letter to be sent thanking her for the time given over the years.

RESOLVED that the Clerk to write letter of thanks to Cllr Mrs D Nicholls

b. Civic Service went very well.

c. Street Signs - members informed that quote produced in 2005 was out of date and an up to date quote was needed. Members agreed that the Street Signs be budgeted for in the 2008/9 precept.

RESOLVED that the Clerk obtain up to date quote for Street Signs.

47/07 NEWSLETTER

Members discussed and agreed that a Codnor Parish Council 2007 newsletter

be produced for Codnor Parishioners. Members agreed to deliver by hand.

48/07 PLANNING

New Applications

AVA/2007/0378 - Double Garage

36 Alfreton Road, Codnor

– No comment.

AVA/2007/0396 - Proposed alterations and 2 storey extension to semi-

detached dwelling for residential purposes

78 Thomson Drive, Codnor

– No comment.

AVA/2007/0422 - Proposed Retail unit

39-49 High Street, Codnor

- Comment – Siting of signs not to interfere with traffic visibility coming out of Hillcrest Drive. Crime prevention report to be sought.

49/07 ENVIRONMENT

Clock Building – repair works to gents and disabled toilets in progress.

50/07 WAR MEMORIAL

Members discussed a plaque to be sited in St James’ Church to commemorate the dead of the Second World War from Codnor and Waingroves. This would accompany the existing plaque commemorating First World War names. Cllrs Mrs A Moon and B Moon left the meeting. Vice Chairman Cllr Mrs C Cox deputised in the absence of Chairman, Cllr Mrs A Moon. Members agreed to financially support St James’ church with the purchase and inscription of the plaque. Members requested that Ripley Town Council be approached for financial assistance towards the cost of inscribing names of the dead from Waingrove’s during the Second World War.

RESOLVED that the Clerk to write to Ripley Town Council requesting financial support especially towards the inscription of names of the dead from Waingrove’s during the Second World War.

51/07 MEMBERS REPORTS

52/07 CORRESPONDENCE

(a) AVBC, PM Carney, Solicitors – Land off Nottingham Road, Codnor. Members discussed the lack of progress towards closure in the compensation issue with Severn Trent.

RESOLVED that Cllr C Emmas-Williams to contact Richard Savidge

for an update on the situation.

(b) Allianz Cornhill - Renewal of Policy Invitation – Members agreed to that the Insurance Policy be renewed.

(c) Smiths of Derby – Offer of 15% discount on a 5 year contract.

Members discussed and agreed to the 5 year contract being implemented.

RESOLVED that the Clerk to complete and return application form to Smiths of Derby.

(d) AVBC, Concerts in the Community – Grant award of £150 toward Codnor Fete 2007

(e) Shipley Garden Centre – Agreement to support Codnor Best Kept Competitions 2007

(f) Manthorpe Engineering – Agreement to support Codnor Best Kept Competitions 2007

(g) AVBC – Laptops are available for Parish Clerks not in possession of a council computer. Members discussed and agreed that the Clerk be supplied with a Laptop.

ACTION: Clerk to collect.
