BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION

The mandate of Internal Audit (IA) is to provide independent and objective assurance and advisory consulting activities guided by the philosophy of adding value to improve the CIBC Group of Companies’ (CIBC) operations. Internal Audit assists CIBC in accomplishing its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Practice Management, National Office, Internal Audit, this Senior Manager position serves as the Vendor Manager of the CCH TeamMate relationship and TeamMate Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Internal Audit providing strong Vendor Management and Governance, thought leadership, personal and interpersonal leadership, training, research and industry awareness and best practices on all aspects of Internal Audit’s use of the TeamMate software and capability. This person will build and maintain relationships with business partners and colleagues within IA, TeamMate user community, industry user groups, and CIBC Technology. Using their intimate understanding of the audit role, the incumbent will promote use and optimization of the TeamMate software and ensure compliance with CIBC policies and procedures related to vendor governance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
As the single point of contact within Internal Audit for TeamMate, the primary responsibilities of the Senior Manager, TeamMate Specialist and Vendor Management are to:
•Develop and promote a deep understanding of the TeamMate suite and its functionality within IA.
•Receive and deliver TeamMate training as required, to enhance the broad understanding and use of TeamMate within Internal Audit.
•Plan, coordinate and in some cases, provide training to new users and updating training as new releases are rolled out.
•Serve as the Chair of the IA TeamMate User Group and the “go-to” person for audit staff to resolve issues and concerns and to respond to questions about functionality or if user support is required.
•Provide overviews, briefings, demonstrations, and executive presentations on TeamMate functionality and the associated benefits to audit management and audit teams.
•Participate in the implementation and configuration of TeamMate. This includes understanding the business requirements in the primary areas of reporting and implementation of audit methodology, and determining how TeamMate should be configured to meet those requirements. Understanding of TeamMate should be such that recommendations can be made to management on enhancing methodology to take full advantage of TeamMate’s capabilities.
•Perform oversight of the administrative and configuration tasks such as adding new users, managing user roles and permissions, and managing the terminology and categories.
•Monitor and oversee the maintenance of Electronic Working Paper (EWP) template(s) so that requirements are met, including incorporation of standard planning, fieldwork, reporting and wrap-up procedures in alignment with IA methodology.
•Monitor and oversee the maintenance of Internal Audit’s TeamStores to confirm efficient and effective use of audit programs, procedures and working paper templates, as well as audit finding/recommendations, risk and controls
•Undertake the design and implementation of reports from TeamMate, based on a design and needs analysis, to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of audit methodology and management reporting.
•Assess features of new TeamMate releases, making recommendations on which releases to implement, and work with IT function to ensure smooth implementation of upgrades. Also examine new functionality and content made available by TeamMate to assess its suitability for use.
•Act as the business escalation point for TeamMate user issues with the vendor, including tracking all issues to closure.
•Participate in external TeamMate user group meetings to network with other Champions and share experiences.
•Participate in the annual planning exercise so that the risk assessment reporting capabilities of TeamMate are fully utilized leading to the completion of the annual plan.
•Provide support in internal and external reporting based on completed audit work.
•Support the Senior Director, Operations as CCH Vendor Manager, providing exceptionally strong vendor and relationship management, implement and monitor governance processes and provide Executive Reporting over the vendor contract as necessary.
•Support the Senior Director, Operations (for project management) with TeamMate upgrades, currency releases, changes, etc…as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The business knowledge and experience required for this position is aligned to an individual who has 5 to 7 years of auditing experience who is interested in improving processes through application of technology. Position requires a strong knowledge base and appreciation for management of the audit function with a strong understanding of audit methodology.
Undergraduate degree combined with an auditing or accounting designation (CIA, CISA, CPA, CA, CMA, and CGA) is preferred.
Strong problem solving skills to help trouble shoot issues, and be able to contribute to improvements and optimization of the software.
Thorough knowledge of auditing practices, processes, standards, techniques, procedures and principles sufficient to interpret complex concepts and apply in the context of the use of this technology.
Solid relationship management and negotiation skills with the ability to influence others when there are differences of opinion.
The ability to strike a balance between internal audit needs and TeamMate capabilities and provide workable solutions to problems.
Strong leadership and influencing skills for motivating, and guiding IA team members in the optimal use of TeamMate.
Strong presentation/interactive skills sufficient to convey complex conceptual information/ideas on issues requiring extensive interpretation and opinion.
Well-developed writing skills sufficient to prepare interpretative, analytical and creative materials involving precise articulation of ideas and opinions.
