Business Support Technical Officer

Main Purpose of Job

As part of Corporate Services to provide functions relating to the Local Land Charges, Street Naming and Numbering and the National Address Gazetteer to ensure the effective provision of services throughout the Council.

Main Duties

  1. To answer external and internal telephone calls and deal with customers questions from Councillors, Developers, Solicitors, Personal Search Companies, members of the public and other professionals in order to explain and resolve complex issues.

  1. To support the Contact Centre team with escalated calls, high level complaints and specialist advice.
  1. To provide the Local Land Charges service involving the acceptance and processing of new Searches. The checking, completion and dispatching of searches. Maintaining the high data quality of the Local Land Charges Register, including registering new registrations and deleting them off the Local Land Charges Register when necessary.
  1. To liaise with Suffolk County Council regarding all aspects of Highway information required for the Search replies and for registrations for the Local Land Charges Register.
  1. To maintain and monitor financial records for the Local Land Charges Section. Involving the checking of daily financial statements, weekly reports and resolving any anomalies. Paying in of monies received.
  1. To support and maintain the development of the National Address Gazetteer (NAG) and follow best practice guidelines in accordance with BS 7666. This includes the research and gathering of relevant statistical and graphical information from site visits, files and liaising with internal and external organisations. Adding new addresses, BLPU points, BLPU provenances and site history onto the Uniform System in accordance with the Data Co-operation #Agreement dated 10th April 2012 and the Public Sector mapping Agreement effective from 1st April 2012. Ensure co-ordinated information between Electoral Services, Council Tax, Non Domestic Rates and Valuation Office.
  1. To provide the Official Street Naming and Numbering service for Ipswich.Requiring research and consultation with appropriate bodies both internally and externally. The interpretation of complex development plans. The delivery of new and updated addresses including providing clear annotated plans in accordance with SNN best practice guidelines
  1. The training of new employees and the on-going training if existing employees. To support other members in the team by advising, instructing, checking, prioritising and allocating work.
  1. To scan and index documents using the appropriate Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
  1. To carry out all administrative functions as required and defined by the Business Support Team Leader/Manager.
  1. To support the day-to-day running of the Shop Mobility scheme, including the opening and closing of the facility.
  1. Such variations as may be required from time to time without changing the general character of the duties shown above or the level of responsibility entailed.
