Job Description
Hours: 4 days per week
Remuneration: £30,785 pro-rata
Location: Twickenham
Fixed contract: 2 years in the first instance. The trust intends and expects to continue the post subject to funding.
The purpose of the role
The main purpose of the Business Development & Fundraising Manager (BDFM) role is to define, shape and pilot the trust’s strategic approach to financial and business growth. The BDFM will provide professional leadership, co-ordination and training of staff to produce a fundraising strategy to increase income from a variety of new and existing sources. The strategy will include the identification of the means by which a pipeline of new project and commercial business opportunities should be developed. The BDM will lead on piloting some priority areas to demonstrate their effectiveness and impact on income generation.
Responsibilities:
- Produce a prioritised fundraising strategy linked to the strategic development of new and current business
- Train staff to effectively raise funds for projects and generate income from events and activities
- Lead on developing a network of new and existing relationships for corporate partnerships including sponsorship and volunteering.
- Establish and develop relationships with key organisations including the statutory authorities
- Research and analyse the trust’s position in its field to identify potential new partnerships, projects and commercial opportunities
- Research funding trends and sources
- Support implementation of audience and communication strategies
- Pilot activities to convert fundraising activities into new relationships and business generating increased income
- Develop relationship management guidelines including marketing
and PR to create a cohesive, organisation-wide approach to
relationship management - Line manage the events team
- Oversee the development and delivery of a 3 year fundraising events
programme
Experience
Minimum of three years’ experience working in a business development or fundraising role, at management level. Qualification from the Institute of Fundraising an advantage.
Proven track-record of:
- researching, planning, implementing of successful fundraising strategies includingnew business
- successful networking for a purpose
- developing and implementing stand-alone giving schemes/campaigns.
- running events for fundraising, promotional and hospitality purposes
- corporate sponsorship and CSR programmes
- writing successful funding applications to statutory authorities, charitable foundations, HLF and other grant giving bodies
- business and financial planning, data capture strategies, branding and promotion
Skills
- highly organised and able to work with minimal supervision
- excellent persuasive communication skills both oral and written
- motivated self-starter able to prioritise and adapt flexibly to changing and challenging situations
- strong research and analytical skills
- excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, email, internet, social media and CRM systems
- excellent presentation skills
- excellent networking with outgoing and expressive personality able to confidently forge and sustain relationships at all levels
