Part 2: Activity (Tutorial 6, 7, 8)
5 Minutes Speech (Individual)
Each student is to prepare (during Tutorial 6) and to deliver a 5 minutes speech (during Tutorial 7 & 8). After each speech delivery, the group is to do a group reflection (during Tutorial 7, 8) for each speech delivered.
Your 5 minutes speech can be on *ANYtopic. This topic can be about you. For example you may use the ‘5 Wives, 1 Husband’ formulae (Who, What, Where, When, Why, How) to talk about yourself. Alternatively, *ANY topic will do too and you can use the other formulae ‘Points 1, 2, 3 & 4. However having said that, we must consider points A, B, C & D. Therefore my conclusion/recommendations are points X, Y & Z.’ to develop your chosen topic.
This should be done over the three tutorial sessions (Tutorial 6 – 8). Each group leader of each team is to take leadership and coordinate this within his/ her small group. The speech preparation process must take into consideration the best practices of presentations learnt during Tutorial 6. If visual aids are needed during this 5 minutes speech, do use. This is encouraged too.
Lecturer Amos Rao & your both your tutors would like to see each student:
a)Have fun during your presentation.
b) Prepare your speech preparation plan on one side of the ‘A4 Page’ (Handwritten). The other side of the ‘A4 Page’ is to list down the comments given by each teammate on how the presenter can improve his/ her speech (Handwritten).
c)If you use a visual aid, you need not submit the visual aid. However do describe within your speech preparation plan, what was/ were the visual aid(s) you used and how you used it.
*ANY – Sensitive topics such as race, language, religion should be avoided.
