Financial Support for Bus passes

If you are in receipt of low household income and will have difficulty paying for a Subsidised bus pass you can also apply for additional funding which may mean that we can help towards the cost of a bus pass. If you are applying for Financial Support do not attach payment now but you must ensure that you complete a Financial Support Application and submit it to the College with evidence of your household income.

Guidance 2017/18

Fareham College Subsidised Travel is available to assist full time students with the additional costs of travelling to College. The College offers bus passes at subsidised rateswhich are available for the fullCollege year.

To be Eligible for a College Subsidised Bus Pass you must be:

  • Studying on a full time course
  • Living at least 3 miles away from the college (NB, this does not apply to CEMAST learners). We will determine this distance based on the post code you provide on your application. You can use this web tool to check the distance yourself if you have access to the internet:

How to apply for a Subsidised Bus Pass

  • Check that you meet all of the criteria listed above (please contact the College if you are unsure).
  • Complete the Fareham College Subsidised Bus Pass Form (overleaf).
  • If you are not applying for financial support you will need to make the appropriate payment to the College (see over for more details).
  • If you are applying for Financial Support and have completed your application form and provided proof of your household income, then we will assess your application and will write to you with the outcome.

What happens next?

First we will assess your application to ensure that you meet the listed criteria. If you are eligible for Subsidised Bus Traveland have made the correct payment, then we will produce a bus pass for you or order one on your behalf from the appropriate bus company. If we have received your application form and payment in good time, then you should be able to collect your pass from the first day of College term in September. You will need to collect your pass in person; it cannot be issued to somebody else on your behalf.

First Bus
(Full) / This pass can be used on any First Bus service in the Hampshire area. This includes use of the Fareham College First Bus Services and can also be used on the Eclipse route /
  • Valid for use for one academic year: (04/09/2017 – 10/07/2018)
  • Valid for use seven days a week
  • For use term time only

First Bus
(Shuttle) / This pass isonlyfor use on the Fareham College Bus Service between Fareham Train Station (or the Bishopsfield Road Campus) and CEMAST. This pass is for students who live within walking distance of the Bishopsfield Road Campus who want to travel to CEMAST by bus, or for those who need to use the train or Stagecoach bus service to travel to Fareham before making the journey to CEMAST. /
  • Valid for use for one academic year: (04/09/2017 – 10/07/2018)
  • Valid for use weekdays only
  • For use term time only

Stagecoach
(Student
Goldrider) / This pass can be used on any bus service operated by Stagecoach in the South and South East. Covers the 69 bus route which runs from Winchester to Fareham through Bishops Waltham, Waltham Chase, Swanmore and parts of Wickham /
  • Valid for use for one calendar year: (04/09/2017 – 31/08/2018)
  • Valid for unlimited travel, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
