Held under the General Competition Rules and Standing Supplementary Regulations (Off Road Racing) of Motorsport South Africa (MSA), FS/NC Regional Circular 03/2009 and these Supplementary Regulations and any Final Instructions which may be issued to competitors.

4.EVENT AND STATUS
The event will be known as the Burgersdorp 200 Off Road Race and
will be held in the Burgersdorp-district. The event will start at the J.L de Bruin Dam
on 29th of August 2009 where documentation will commence and the race will be deemed finished once the results are final.
The event will form the 5th round of the 2009 Free State/ Northen Cape Off-Road Racing Championships for Off-Road Motorcycles and Quads.
5.DESCRIPTION OF EVENT
Starting order for Racing Section
The route has a Red and Green loop, both forming the figure 8.
Competitors will start in pairs at intervals of 15 seconds.
Starting order:
1)National and regional licence holders for bikes/quads
2)Novice bike and quad entries(Ref to par. 3)
Racing Section
Motorcycles and Quads
The racing section will comprise of a route of ±220 kms.
Regional and Senior Competitors will be required to do four(4) race laps(2 x Red and 2 x Green) –
±55 km each lap.
Silver and Junior national license holders have to complete 75% (3 race laps)
Noviceshave to complete 2 racing laps.
6.CROSSING OF PUBLIC/DISTRICT ROADS
As the organiser, we have fully acquainted ourselves with SSR 332 of the MSA Non-Circuit handbook with regards to crossing of public/district roads.
We the organisers are also aware and have acquainted ourselves with the provisions of Sec.317 of the Road Traffic Act and confirm that the event officials have been made aware of the above section. By allowing the event to proceed, we accept that all requirements are compiled with and where applicable all relevant permissions are in place.

With the exception of the Stewards of the Meeting and any Observers who may be appointed, all officials and members of the organising committee listed in Art. 2.2 are authorized to assist competitors (in terms of SSR 332 in the MSA Handbook).
8.ELEGIBILITY AND PRE-START REQUIREMENS
Competitors
All competitors must be in possession of a current, valid National/Regional competition licence endorsed for Off-Road Racing.
To score points towards the regional championship, competitors must be in possession of a valid MSA regional licence. Club-licence holders can only compete in novice/silver classes.
All competitors must comply with SSR 321.
Eligibility of Vehicles
All Motorcycles and Quads must comply with SSR322 (A),(B) and (C)
Acquaintance with and Submission to the Rules
Competitors attention is drawn to GCR 122.
9.CLASSES
Motorcycles
Motorcycle Open Two stroke motorcycles with and engine capacity in excess of 251cc
And four stroke motorcycles with an engine capacity in excess of 401cc.
Motorcycle 250cc Two stroke motorcycles with an engine capacity greater than 201cc but not
exceeding 251cc and four stroke motorcycles with an engine capacity
greater than 251cc but not exceeding 401cc
Motorcycle 200cc Two stroke motorcycles with an engine capacity not exceeding 201cc and
four stroke motorcycles with engine capacity not exceeding 251cc
Motorsycle Senior Any capacity for competitors 38 years as from 1 January 2009 Once a
competitor has entered into this class, he/she has to complete the season in
the same class.
Quad Open Engine capacity in excess of 451cc four stroke and 301cc two
stroke
Quad 450 Engine capacity not exceeding 450cc four stroke and 300cc two
stroke
Quad Senior Any capacity for competitors 38 years as from 1 January 2009. Once a
competitor has entered into this class, he/she has to complete the season in
the same class.
Novice/Silver One class only for motorcycles and quads
Junior One class only for motorcycles and quads (Non championship)
Junior NationalOne class only for motorcycles and quads (Non championship)
10.ENTRIES
General
Entries open immediately and closeon THURSDAY,27 AUGUST 2009 at 17:00 by which time properly completed entry forms accompanied by the prescribed fee must be in the hands of the Organisers. Late entries will be accepted at documentation on 29 August 2009, with a “late entry” -penalty of R100.

The entry fee will be R 250 for Motorcycles and Quads # R200 for Novices / Juniors
Cheques must be made payable to Burgersdorp Off-Road Club
Faxed/E-Mail Entries
Faxed/E-Mail entries will be accepted in accordance with GCR 96.
Competitors wishing to enter by fax must deposit their entry fee directly into the club’s bank account, details given below and are to fax the slip and their entry form to the number given below. PLEASE WRITE YOUR NAME AND COMPETITION NUMBER ON THE DEPOSIT SLIP TO ENSURE THAT IT GETS CREDITED TO THE CORRECT ENTRY.Competitors entering by fax are requested to bring their original entry forms and deposit slips to documentation.

11.RACE HEADQUARTERS AND OFFICIAL NOTICE BOARD

Race Headquarters will be at the J.L de Bruin Dam.

The Official Notice Board will be at Race Headquarters at the J.L de Bruin Dam.
12.DOCUMENTATION AND PRE-EVENT SELF-SCRUTINEERING
All competitors will be required to undergo documentation and Self-Scrutineering.
See paragraph 3(on page 1).
Signed Self-Scrutineering forms must be completed by the competitor and handed in by documentation before the start of the race. Any competitor failing to adhere to this rule, will not be scored and will be disqualified from the race.
On return of signed Self-Scrutineering form, the competitor will be issued with the route check card (helmet sticker) to be sticked on the lefthand side of the helmet.
Scrutineering “spot-checks” will be done to any vehicle (before the start, during or after the race) by a official and any vehicle which fails to comply with the SSR 346will be excluded.
13. REFUEL, REFUELLING AND DESIGNATED SERVICE POINTS
The refuel and service point will be at the J.L de Bruin Dam.
Refer also to SSR 327(i).
14. FINISH AND ROUTE CHECK CONTROL CARDS
The finish of the event will take the form of a timed control point.
The chequered flag will be shown to the leading competitors in all categories. The competitors in each category with the least total time will be declared the winners of the event (See SSR 329(B).
All competitors will be issued with a route check control card at documentation. Loss of this card may result in the competitor beingclassified as a non-finisher. The onus rests on the competitor tohand in his route check card on completion of the event as laid down in SSR 329(B).
15. RETIREMENT AND INCIDENT REPORT FORMS
Retirement
Should a competitor retire from the event he is to immediately notify the nearest radio marshal / official of this fact in writing. Competitors who have retired from the event must proceed to Race Headquarters as soon as possible and hand in their route check card and complete an incident report form. Failure to notify the Organisers in writing on the incident Report Form within one hour of retiringfrom the event may result in a fine of R1 000 being charged to any competitor found to have safely retired from the event without notifying theOrganisers. (See SSR 343(i)(l). Furthermore failure to comply with the regulation may result in the competitor’s entry being refused by the Organisers for future events.
Incident Report Forms
All competitors will be issued with an incident Report Form at documentation. This form must be handed to the Organisers either on completion or on retirement from the event. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in the competitor concerned being fined R1 000.
Any incidents involving any person or property must be recorded on this form. Should a competitor fail to report any incident involving damage to any person or property on this form in addition to the penalty laid down in SSR 343(i)(l) the competitor may be reported to MSA for further action. In particular, competitors are requested to notify the Organisers of any damaged/broken fences/gates so that the necessary repairs may be carried out.
16. RACING ETIQUETTE AND SAFETY
1. Never go backward on the course or stop on the course. If you think you are not on the route,
stop a safe distance next to the road and slowly make your way back a safe distance from the
road.
2. You must come to a complete stop at all marshall points and road crossings. No overtaking is
allowed between a marshal board and a marshal point, or between a road crossing board and a
road crossing.
3. It is the competitor’s reponsibility to give marshals enough time to mark his/her vehicle or
helmet.
17.COMPETITOR CONDUCT
(Refer to SSR 344)
Medical Boards
In the case of an accident or retirement on route, competitors must display the Medical Board with the applicable side facing oncoming traffic.
Injuries
In the event of anyone being injured, competitors are obliged to stop and render whatever assistance may be needed. In the case of serious injury do not move the injured competitor unless he is in a dangerous position. The next marshall must be informed as soon as possible in order to summons assistance. Please give the marshall the injured competitors name and competition number and approximate location. When an ambulance is encountered on route it has the right of way all the time.
General
The Organizers have been afforded the privilege of staging this event through populated, cultivated and remote areas. Please exercise caution through these areas and where livestock is concerned. Competitors are required to act responsible so that the event can take place in the future.
The route may traverse cultivated and grazing land (veldt), when it does, competitors are to stay on the route and away from vegetation. Competitors not found doing so will be excluded from the event and reported to MSA for further disciplinary action. In many places the route may be narrow and dust and mud may be a problem. You should therefore, afford any competitor who has caught up with you every opportunity to overtake.
Competitors are requested to be considerate to the landowners when retrieving stranded racing vehicles from the route and to ensure that damage to cultivated and grazing lands is avoided when retrieving their vehicles. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action being taken against the competitor concerned.
Abuse of Officials
Competitors are responsible for their own behavior and that of family, friends and pit crew. (Refer GCR 172 x).
18. TIME BAR
The official Time Bar – will be 15:00 for motorcycles and quads.
In terms of SSR 330(D) the Time bar may be extended by the Clerk of the Course should circumstances so dictate.
19. ENVIRONMENTAL MATTERS
Every motorcyclist is encouraged to enjoy, to the fullest extent, their race through this country
without leaving damaging footprints.
Please make use of oil disposal bins where provided.
Refuelling at non assisted refuels must take place on the plastic sheeting provided. Competitors must ensure they use environmental mats at assisted refuels.
Please ensure that you remove your litter.
Noise – Any quad or motorcycle deemed to have excessive decibel readings will be tested and competitors will then have to silence their machines to required levels before being allowed to start the event. It is every competitor’s reponsibility to ensure that their quads or motorcycles comply with the current noise regulations and we urge competitors, team managers and entrants to be aware of this and be their own “policeman”. Avoid unnecessary revving of quads & motorcycles. Keep children at least 10 metres away from start areas and revving quads & motorcycles
20. PENALTIES
Refer to SSR 343 for motorcycles and quads.
Failure to notify the Organisers of retirement – Fine of R1 000. Refer to Art 14.1
Failure to hand in an incident Report Form – Fine of R1 000. Refer to Art 14.2
21. RESULTS
Provisional results will be posted at 17:00 on the Official Notice Board. Subject to no protests being received in terms of GCR 200, these results will become final 30 minutes later.
Competitors attention is drawn to Art 12 & 13 of Appendix “R” of the MSA Handbook for protests and appeals.
Should there be an unreasonable delay in announcing the results the Stewards of the Meeting may postpone such announcement. Refer to GCR 280(ii).
22. PRIZE GIVING & LUCKY DRAW
Prize giving will commence at 18:00 on Saturday, 29 August at the J.L de Bruin Dam. Subject to no protests having been received.
23. AWARDS
All awards will be presented to the crew of the vehicle unless the entrant claims the awards in writing upon entering the event. Refer to GCR 281(i).
Competitors must be classified as finishers of the event to be eligible for awards which are based on the final results of the event.
All awards will be distributed at prize giving. Any competitor who is not present and who has not made a prior arrangement with the Clerk of the Course or Secretary of the Meeting shall forfeit all such awards. Competitors attention is drawn to GCR 280(iii).
Class Awards
Awards will be awarded to the first three places in each class subject to the class having a minimum of six (6) starters.
Finishers Badges
Refer to SSR 343 (i)(l). The Organisers reserve the right not to award finishers badges to competitors who fail to hand in an Incident Report Form.
24. RIGHTS OF THE CLERK OF THE COURSE /
PROMOTORS AND ORGANISERS
The Clerk of the Course reserves the right (subject to the approval of the Stewards of the Meeting) to:
Alter the departure times and route if forced to do so through weather conditions, or for any other reasons;
Alter the starting and scoring methods, if it is found necessary to do so.
The Promotors / Organisers reserve the right (subject to the approval of MSA) to:
Postpone, abandon or cancel the event for reasons of “force majeure” (Refer to
GCR 109(iv);
Refuse any entry. Refer to GCR’s 99(i) and 100.
