Job Function:
Working with our food operations team, you have an exceptional ability to connect and build relationships through food service. You have the people, operational and food service skills to help your unit succeed while making the team feel like a part of the larger BUSU family as a whole. Through your knowledge of the food service industry, you take pride in ensuring a positive customer experience and supporting the management team in their day-to-day operations. You are customer focused, enthusiastic and thrive in a fast-paced goal oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Builds subs according to brand standards set out by Subway.
  • Provides exemplary customer service to all patrons at all times.
  • Completes all prep related tasks to subway spec and brand standards and in a timely manner
  • Operates all food preparation equipment and related devices in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assists in receiving supply orders.
  • Ensures relevant work stations are stocked and prepped with all relevant products for daily service.
  • Prepares and serves food and drinks for BUSU catered events. Assist in room set-up and take down. Ensures catering area is clean and properly set up before the event.
  • Cleans all work areas regularly of all debris, food waste, garbage, and other unwanted items.
  • Ensures dishes are clean before using them to serve, store, or prepare food.
  • Operates the Point of Sale system, handles cash and issues receipts.
  • Performs any other tasks related to the portfolio as reasonably assigned by the Food Services Manager or Supervisors.
Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of BUSU services and operations.
  • Well-developed time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of a team on a task.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Experience in handling cash is preferred.
  • Must be a registered undergraduate student at Brock University.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Prior Subway experience is an asset.
Working Conditions:
PHYSICAL EFFORT
The majority of the work does not require a high level of physical activity. However, the work does require you to stand for your shift and repetitive motion. From time to time some physical labour may be required i.e. moving materials around the outlet or other items for special events.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Standard food services within hot and cold areas. Customer service focused dealing with student patrons throughout the shift. Fast paced, detailed work.
SENSORY ATTENTION
Working on a POS, working with and communicating with students, staff and community members. Job requires a high level of concentration and focus.
MENTAL STRESS
The Union Station Employeemust be able to work flexible hours in order to be successful. Must be able to work in fast paced environment and work through complex situations which ensure that the Health and Safety of the workers is included.
