PINE VIEW TERRACE EASEMENTS

The City of Rapid City is requesting a Permanent Sanitary Sewer Easement a Permanent Drainage Easement and a Permanent Access Easement west of Corral Drive School. Doug Sperlich reviewed the details of the Pine View Terrace Easements with the Facilities Committee.

PARKVIEW AGREEMENT - REVIEW

Mike Kenton reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Rapid City and the Rapid City Area School District on the Parkview Parcels. The Memorandum of Understanding and the Lease Agreement are attached.

COMMUNITY USE OF SCHOOL FACILITIES DISTRICT CODE KG POLICY REVIEW

Mike Kenton and Katie Bray reviewed the Draft Copy of District Code KG Policy that was developed by a working committee of Principals and District Administrators. The policy defines general guidelines on district facility use, specific conditions and requirements for requesting and scheduling school facilities and facility fees for the recovery of maintenance, supplies and operational costs. The policy and corresponding procedure will be forwarded to Dr. Mitchell this week for review by the Policy Committee.

TRANSPORTATION NATURAL GAS BID

Gunar Dzintars reviewed the bid process, history and issues of the competitive purchasing process for natural gas. The Rapid City School District is able to buy natural gas at wholesale prices under a contract with the Civic Center for Central High School, Stevens High School, South West Middle School / Corral Drive Elementary School and West Middle School. Buying at wholesale will be an estimated cost savings of $45,000.00 per year.

BLACK HILLS SPORTS CAR CLUB

Ron Mincks presented the request for the Black Hills Sports Car Club to use the Central High School Parking Lot for an upcoming event. The Committee declined the request.

GARDEN PROJECTS

This year there will be 12 garden beds at General Beadle, 12 at North Middle School and 6 at Knollwood. The Garden Projects are gaining great support within the communities. The wood for the garden beds and the compost have been donated by local businesses. The cost to rent a garden bed is $15.00.

LEGISLATIVE SCHOOL FUNDING RESEARCH COMMITTEE

The Legislature will be reviewing the school funding formula and all sources of school revenue in the upcoming legislative session. Dr. Mitchell will provide more information at the May 30th Study Session.
