Building a Better Future is an exciting new project funded by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and the Australian Government Office for Women (OfW). It aims to highlight the diversity of fields, roles, career paths, opportunities and workplaces that are available to women in the construction industry.
Through the project stories and images of women actively involved in diverse roles within the construction industry will be featured on the BBF website. The stories will include information about how and why these women got into the industry, what they studied, what path they have taken through the industry, what challenges they have overcome and what theircareer highlights are. In addition to the stories the site will provide links to current websites that provide relevant training and career related information. The project aims to provide inspiring and relevant information for girls and young women considering career and training options, career advisors and young women wanting to move into the construction industry or move within it.
We are inspired by your stories; stories of women who have successful and varied careers in non traditional areas and we think they will encourage girls and young women to investigate and consider real career choices in one of Australia's biggest industries.
We would like to invite you to contribute to this project by sharing your own story about being a part of the construction industry, and encourage more young women to follow you.
