LIGHTING & SOUND PROGRAM - KING'S BRASS 2015-16 TOUR

Please Note: These are simplified lighting instructions for concerts with theater lighting capabilities. Creativity on the part of the light operator is encouraged. If further instruction is needed, please contact The King’s Brass at 260-625-5324 or . For “General Wash” pieces, please include some warm colored gels to enhance skin tones of the ensemble. Please have lighting operator come to the group sound check at the same time as the sound tech.

FIRST HALF (55 min.)

1. Dukas – Fanfare to La Peri – House lights dimmed to 50%. Keyboard and percussion begin as three trumpet players enter stage center while three trombone and one tuba player play from the rear of the auditorium. Gradually bring up stage lights as brass players enter. Once piece has reached its final chord, Stage lights 100% – General wash. In the middle of the fanfare, Tim speaks briefly– center stage at microphone as keyboards & percussion play and all group members arrive on stage. House lights dimmed completely. Group will stand from left to right in the center 25 feet of the platform.

2. Lord I Lift Your Name or Come Thou Fount – Stage lights – General wash.

(Tim speaks – center stage at microphone)

3. Leaning on the Everlasting Arms - General wash.

4. God Of Wonders / This Is My Father’s World - Stage lights dimmed. Blue gels recommended. The group will step down off of the platform and stand on the main auditorium floor. Bring up house lights to 50%. At the end of the piece, the group will go back up to the platform. Return lights to stage lights dimmed - blue gels recommended.

5. America from West Side Story – Red, White and Blue gels with General Wash. For the finals 30 seconds of this piece, the group will step down off of the platform and stand on the main auditorium floor.

Group exits stage left at end of piece.

6. Piano Solo – Solo spot on piano.

7. Zacchaeus - Kid’s Story - Each group member is introduced until all members are on the platform. Start with solo lighting in the center of the stage, as Tim Zimmerman introduces each performing member of the ensemble, keep adding lights until all members have entered. When all members have entered – General Wash.

8. 76 Trombones – Stage Lights - Red, White and Blue gels with General Wash.

9. A-Train – Red, White & Blue gels with General Wash

10. Armed Forces Tribute – Red, White and Blue gels with General Wash. Bring up house lights as Veterans stand during the playing of their armed services song.

11. Praise To The Lord - (with congregation) – Raise house lights so audience can see the printed words on the printed song sheets. If projected words are used, please bring house lights to 30% as audience stands and sings with The King’s Brass. Please note: in the middle of this piece, Tim will step up to the microphone and invite the congregation to join the brass.

OVER

12. Jesus Loves Me – Lower house lights completely. Flugelhorn duet and piano - Soft piece. Stage lights dimmed. Blue gels recommended.

13. Thine Be The Glory – Half of the group will play in the back of the auditorium or balcony, if available. Bring house lights to 50% as piece begins. Bring stage lights to 100% - General Wash as piece begins. Group exits stage left at end of piece.

Offertory – Piano Solo – Solo spot on piano. When no offertory is received, this piano solo will be played after intermission as the first piece in the second half of the program.

SECOND HALF (30 min.)

1. Old Time Religion – Ensemble will start in the lobby and then will process down center aisle from the back of the auditorium. Use two follow spots if available, or bring house lighting to 50% once group starts down the aisle. Once group arrives on stage, lower house lights and bring up stage light up to full General wash.

2. The New Umpire - Group Parable Skit - center stage at microphone - center stage lighting.

3. As The Deer / Holy, Holy, Holy (with congregation) – General Wash - Bring up house lights halfway through the piece as audience is invited to sing, so that the audience can see the printed words on the hand out song sheets. If projected words are used, please bring house lights to 30% as audience stands and sings with The King’s Brass. Please note: in the middle of this piece, Tim will step up to the microphone and invite the congregation to join the brass.

4. The Savior Is Waiting – Lower house lights completely. Flugelhorn solo with piano - Soft piece. Stage lights dimmed. Blue gels recommended.

(Tim speaks for 5 min. and presents the “good news” of the gospel - center stage at microphone. House & stage lights remain dimmed.)

5. For By Grace / Marvelous Grace (with congregation) – Start with stage lights dimmed, raise stage lights slowly as the piece begins. General Wash on stage by the time the audience is invited to sing with The King’s Brass. Bring up house lights so audience can see the printed words on the hand out song sheets. If projected words are used, please bring house lights to 30% as audience stands and sings with The King’s Brass. Please note: in the middle of this piece, Tim will step up to the microphone and invite the congregation to join the brass.

(Tim speaks briefly to introduce final piece - center stage at microphone)

6. Cry Of My Heart or God Of Our Fathers - General Wash. House lights dimmed.

Group bows and exits stage left at end of piece.
