Objective: For students to understand how much groceries cost for a month by planning out a budget for a month.

Food Budget

Plan out a week’s of meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, snacks, and drinks.

Choose foods that you would normally eat and have one dinner that you would have something special to eat.

Visit the IGA online grocery site to find all the products that you need for your meal.

Write down each product, how many you bought, and the price.

Add up the total of all your purchases.

Then add 15 % tax.

Use the tax calculator to find out the amount of tax you have to pay in Quebec on the total you have

Then multiply that number by 4 and that is roughly how much money you are going to spend on groceries a month.

Extra Things

Then add all the things that you would buy at grocery store/pharmacy that are not food related. These are thing that you would only have to buy once month. You can add your own items that you know you use regularly. Things like:

Bathroom

Toilet paper

Paper Towel

Soap

Shampoo

Conditioner

Toothpaste

Tooth brush

Mouth wash

Deodorant

Add all those things up. Add 15 % tax
