BUC RIDGE - CLOSING NOTICE FOR SPRING 2018

Residents leaving for the summer will need to be properly checked out by 6:00pm on Friday, May 4, 2018.

Residents graduating may have until 9:00pm on Sunday, May 6, 2018 to check out.

LEADING TO EXAM WEEK: Prior to Exam Week, please make sure that you and your roommate/s talk and make specific arrangements to clean the common areas of the apartment. All residents of the apartment will be charged for all damages, trash, etc., left in the kitchen, living room, laundry room, and balcony areas. Avoid monetary charges by following the check-out instructions below.

PRIOR TO CHECKING OUT:

  • Remove ALL belongings and clean bedroom/apartment before you come to the Clubhouse to check out:
  • Empty trash/sweep floor, clean appliances; leaving a dirty bedroom/common area can cost at least $150 and possibly more.
  • Avoid the risk of damaging the walls by not removing command strips. Facilities staff will remove properly.
  • Remove personal items from balconies and stairwells (chairs, bikes, etc.).
  • We DO NOT take responsibility for any items you leave inside the room, on the balcony, or in the stairwells.If you check out and leave items, you will be charged disposal fees(minimum of $50 per load).
  • Lock your bedroom before you come down to the Clubhouse to check out.

HOW TO *PROPERLY* CHECK OUT: All residents leaving for Summer should check out at the Clubhouse. Apartment Staff will be inside the Clubhouse in order to collect your key, decode your ID, and to get you to complete the check-out paperwork. Failure to check-out with staff at the Clubhouse will result in a minimum charge of $35 plus $50 for a re-key and any additional charges for damages or a dirty room/apartment. You need to have your key/ID card with you when you come to check-out at the Clubhouse.

DONATIONS/DISPOSAL OF UNWANTED GOODS: You may donate unopened canned food and unwanted clothes, pots, pans, and dishes to the Clubhouse for Bucky’s Food Pantry. You must deliver these items to the Clubhouse during our normal business hours. Leaving items in the room and saying that you are “donating items” is not appropriate. You will be charged for all items that you leave inside the apartment, as we have to hire staff to carry/load these items.

As you move out, please also note that you can dispose of your prescription drugs safely, conveniently, and responsibly by visiting the designated National Prescription Drug Take Back booth at the ETSU Farmer’s Market on Thursday, April 26from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

IF YOU NEED SUMMER/FALL HOUSING or IF YOU ARE NOT RETURNING TO HOUSING FOR FALL 2018

  • Please come by the Department of Housing and Residence Life - Room 108 Burgin Dossett Hall to complete the appropriate forms.
  • Davis Efficiency Apartments and Buccaneer Ridge are available for the summer. More information about Summer Housing is available here.

IF YOU SIGNED A CONTRACT FOR FALL 2018/SPRING 2019, but your plans change

  • Notify the Department of Housing and Residence Life in writing by email, fax, letter

IMPORTANT DATES

  • June 1, 2018 - last day to cancel Fall 2018/Spring 2019 agreement and receive a deposit refund (less any damages and/or monies owed to the University)
  • June 2 - July 31, 2018 - can cancel Fall 2018/Spring 2019 agreements, but deposit is forfeited
  • Starting August 1, 2018 - if enrolled for Fall 2018/Spring 2019, you are obligated to pay rent and meal plan (if applicable) for both semesters Fall 2018/Spring 2018
  • Halls & Apartments open for fall semester at 9:00am on Friday, August 24, 2018

Note: If there is an empty bedroom in your apartment, please remember that you could get a new roommate at any time (during the break, during summer sessions, etc.). Please keep the common area in good order so that a new roommate will feel welcome to the apartment.
