General description

This big button cordless phone has a large well laid out number key pad and clear LCD display and is available as a twin set (DH364). You can call block up to 10 numbers to stop nuisance calls and it has a ‘do not disturb’ function, for when you need some peace and quiet. It has a built-in answering machine.

With the hands-free speaker you can share conversations with people in the room or simply give your hands a rest while having a conversation. Hearing aid compatible it also has a visual voicemail, so you can see who has called and choose the message you want to hear first.

DECT technology offers a high speech quality thanks to the digital radio technology.

Getting to know your phone

Orientation

The handset

With the front of the telephone facing towards you, and the display uppermost, you will notice the following:

·  At the top on the front of the telephone is a recessed grill which is the ear speaker, and above right of this is a thin red LED indicator that illuminates when a call is incoming. This is the visual ring indicator.

·  Underneath the ring indicator is the display. The phone must be charged for the display to be activated.

·  Below the display are a series of buttons. The first three immediately below the display are left option button, R (Recall) and right option button from left to right. These are the speed dial memory buttons that can be used once a telephone number has been programmed to that corresponding button.

·  There is now a block of 5 buttons, the central button is double height with upper half being Volume/Up and the lower half Calls/Down. To the left is Hands Free with green Dial button below it. To the right is Phone Book with red End Call button below it.

·  The main keypad is located below the answer and disconnect buttons in four rows of three buttons (some buttons have multiple functions).

The letters in brackets below are used when inputting a name into the directory.

The top row, from left to right is 1 (no letters), 2 (A, B, C), 3 (D, E, F). The second row is 4 (G, H, I), 5 (J, K, L) and 6 (M, N, O). The number five has two very small tactile dots on the button. The third row is 7 (P, Q, R, S), 8 (T, U, V) and 9 (W, X, Y, Z), and the fourth row, from left to right, is star (ringer on/off), zero, and asterisk (keypad lock).

·  Below the keypad there is one smaller oblong button for Record. Alongside this is the microphone.

Turn the telephone so the left edge is facing towards you.

·  Level with the screen is the 3.5mm socket for headset.

Turn the telephone so the right edge is facing towards you.

·  Level with the screen you will find a 2cm long button. This is the audio amplification button.

Turn the telephone so the rear side is facing towards you.

·  The lower half is the battery compartment.

Handset buttons

Left option button: In idle mode, press to enter the main menu. Also use to access sub menus and confirm options shown on the display above the button.

Up/Volume: From home screen, press to change the ringer volume, see Settings. In talk mode, press to increase the incoming speech volume. In menu mode, press to scroll up through the options.

Handsfree: In idle mode, press to make or receive calls handsfree, see Make a handsfree call.

Talk: In idle mode, press to make and receive calls, see Using the phone.

Calls/Down: From home screen, press to open and scroll through the Calls list, see Calls list. In talk mode, press to decrease the incoming speech volume. In menu mode, press to scroll down through the options.

1 (Speed dial): From home screen, press and hold 1 to dial BT 1571 or your stored speed dial number, see Speed dial. When answer machine message is playing, press to repeat the message from the beginning.

4: When answer machine message is playing, press 4 to skip back to the previous message.

* Press and hold * to turn the handset ringer on or off. When answer machine message playing, press to replay the message slowly.

R (Recall): R (Recall) for use with some BT Calling Features and when connected to a switchboard/PBX.

Right option button: Press to confirm the option displayed on the screen above the button, to delete or go back to the previous screen. In answer machine mode, deletes the current message playing.

Amplify (on side of handset): During a call, press to boost the incoming speech volume.

Phonebook: In idle mode, press to access your stored Contacts.

End call/on or off: Press to end a call. In idle mode, press and hold to switch the handset on or off, see page 21. In menu mode, press to return to home screen.

3: When answer machine message is playing, press 3 to delete the message.

6: When answer machine message playing, press 6 to skip forward to the next message.

2-9 (Speed dial): From home screen, press and hold buttons 2-9 to dial a stored speed dial number, see page 33.

#: Press and hold # to lock or unlock the keypad.

Record: During a call, press to record the conversation. In idle mode, press to play recorded calls.

Handset display

The handset display screen top line from left specifies the time; musical note symbol for ringtone on/off; keypad lock symbol; battery symbol.

The second line is the Handset name e.g. Handset 1.

The third line indicates the number of new (missed) calls received (For full details of who has called you please make sure you have subscribed to Caller Display from your network provider).

The final line relates to the left and right soft key operations e.g. menu on the left and call list on the right.

Handset display icons

Battery symbol: Shows handset battery status.

Scrolls when the handset is charging.

Hollow battery symbol: Empty frame flashes when battery needs recharging.

“UnMute/Mute”: Indicates when Mute is on or off.

Keyhole (rectangular shape with a key hole in the middle): The keypad is locked.

Musical note with an x: Handset ringer is switched off.

Base unit

The base unit of the telephone is used to house and charge the telephone.

Turn the base unit so that the rear side is facing you.

·  On the rear of the base unit, there are two sockets. The left socket is for the power supply and the right socket is for telephone line connection.

Turn the base unit so the buttons are nearest to you and the handset holding socket is further away from you.
