Post:Class Teacher

Reporting To:Subject Leader

Post Level & Grade:Main Spine or Threshold Level Qualified Teacher

Purpose:

To facilitate and encourage learning which enables students to achieve high standards and to share and support the corporate responsibility for the well-being, education and discipline of all students.

Main (Core) Duties:

To ensure everyone is a successful learner who makes progress, achieves and enjoys learning by

  1. Creating a high quality sharing, caring learning environment in which everyone is a successful learner and achieves and enjoys learning.
  1. Maintaining discipline in accordance with school policies and demonstrate good practice with regard to attendance, appearance, punctuality, behaviour, etc.
  1. Facilitating learning using a wide range of strategies and resources to motivate student learning including through the development of appropriate schemes of work and teaching and learning materials.
  1. Being responsible for ensuring that up to date records of student achievement and quality assurance processes are maintained.
  1. Actively participating in appropriate meetings with parents, colleagues and others relative to the role to ensure students make progress.
  1. Actively participating with colleagues in meetings and discussions on professional issues and continuous professional development to support a commitment to lifelong learning. Including keeping up to date with pedagogy to support the whole school aims and community.

Encourage everyone to be a confident individual who leads a safe, healthy, economically active life by

  1. Ensuring students have opportunities to gain self confidence through supported opportunities including risk taking and independent learning.
  1. Undertaking the responsibilities of a Base Leader of an assigned Base Group with the support of a Community Leader.
  1. Being aware of the responsibilities for safeguarding students in their learning environment.

To support everyone being a responsible citizen who makes a positive contribution to the school and wider community by

  1. Being a good role model for behaviours and attitudes with a sense of humour and empathy for children.
  1. Encouraging independence of self; considering support and contribution of others both as people, groups, communities and environments.
  1. Being able to assess how your work contributes to the whole school picture.

To undertake any other duties that the Headteacher may reasonably request.

  • An ability to lead both students and colleagues in your specialist skills areas
