1. It is best viewed in Firefox – Version 2.0.0.1

What is Java?
Java allows you to play online games, chat with people around the world, calculate your mortgage interest, and view images in 3D. These applications, written in the Java programming language and access from your browse, are called "applets". Corporations also use Java applets for intranet applications and other e-business solutions

2. You will need a version of Java for all browsers. Web CT recommends this version for windows, jre-1_5_0_07

Note - Version 6 Update 2 is the latest version of java and should work properly with Blackboard WebCT, however I have not tested it yet, so therefore I am recommended you stay with the version that blackboard links to.

When the java download page opens up……put a . in the Accept license agreement

Then put a check mark in the Windows Online Installation (see below) and download

Java will then download onto your computer. You will see an icon that looks like a coffee cup with steam. Click on that icon to install Java.

3. If you still have a problem after you install this version you may have more than one version of Java installed on your computer.

Here are instructions on how to check and remove other versions of Java on a computer running windows.

1. Go to start menu

2. Click on control panel

3. Click on Add or Remove Programs - It will say “please wait while list is populated”

4. Programs will load up and will be listed in alphabetical order.
5. Go down to j and click on any versions of Java that are extra and remove them.

POP– UP Blocker needs to be removed

In Firefox

  • Click on tools
  • Click on Options
  • Click on Content
  • Uncheck the box in front o f Block pop-up windows
  • Than click ok
