Luncheon and Luncheon Speaker – Predictions on “Economic Update on the Bakken and Oil Industry Activities in the Region,” Niles Hushka, KLJ Engineering – Mr. Hushka is president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Kadrmas, Lee & Jackson (KL&J), a regional engineering, surveying and planning firm that has done considerable work in the oil and gas industry. He has more than 32 years of leadership experience and earned a bachelor of science in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is a registered professional engineer in Michigan, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. His career began with KL&J as an engineer in 1978. Hushka became KL&J’s CEO in 2003.

8:45 – 10 AM:How Big is This? How Long Will it Last? What are the housing needs and opportunities? Mr. Tom Rolfstad is the Director of Economic Development for Williston, North Dakota.

Williston is at the heart of an oil play that has moved North Dakota from the 9th largest oil producer in the country to number three. Rolfstad has lived through two other oil plays. He explains the unconventional nature of this oil play, the unique characteristics of the Bakken shale, along with the housing needs and opportunities in this regional area.

Williston is the location of over 350+ oilfield service companies. The top 10 oilfield service companies in the world are all located in Williston and are all moving to make Williston their largest facility in North America, and/or the world!

Rolfstad is a native of Williston. He was development director in the 1980’s oil play, worked five years for the ND Commerce Department in Bismarck and returned to Williston in 1990. He has a unique perspective on how long the oil boom will last.

Rolfstad is educated in architecture, city planning, real estate, and communications.
