The Broadview Thomson PK-8 Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) supports our highly diverse students and community by advocating for and helping to provide a rich learning environment designed to support the academic and social achievement of every student. Our neighborhood school is located in North Seattle on Greenwood Avenue, and serves as a school base for over 650 students in our area.
Our student body is socioeconomically diverse: with over 35 languages spoken by our students and their families, 64% of our student population currently lives at or below the poverty line. Combined with reduced funding from the Seattle School District, the State of Washington and the federal government, Broadview Thomson PK-8 is subject to increasing pressure to provide more student programs and teacher support with consistently less funding.
The Broadview Thomson PTA has an urgent need to close this funding gap. We strive each and every year to provide and maintain new and sustaining student education and enrichment programs at our school, while also providing funds to directly support our classroom teachers.
Broadview Thomson PK – 8 is hosting our annual school auction on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 at the Bitter Lake Community Center. Last year, over 150 people attended this community event, which celebrates our neighborhood school and the great efforts of our parent volunteers and school educators. With help from our community across the City of Seattle, we successfully raised over $116,000 to support technology efforts, playground improvements, arts education, library and reading programs and classroom experiences in science, social studies and the arts.
We hope that you will be willing to generously donate an item in support of Broadview Thomson PK-8 school auction. Your company and name will be recognized prominently in the auction display the night of the event and in our auction catalog.
