SR thanked everyone for attending the meeting and gave a small introduction. Attendance was then discussed again. The attendance at local level is fantastic although at the panel meeting attendance levels are beginning to fall therefore we may have to look into a new way of conducting this meeting to make it more effective.

A brief description off everything we have done in the past 8 weeks was given such as, theft of passenger property patrols, Scouts day safety event held on Sunday 16th May and forthcoming attendance at the Newcastle Mela.

YORK-CENTRAL SECTOR

SR PSP for graffiti- we have done a lot of work over the past months, and worked with various different partnerships such as Network Rail, North Yorkshire Police and The Safer York Partnership. We have had a camera installed in the area and have carried our additional high visibility patrols and plain clothes observations. We have now asked for more resources as the problem must be addressed on a larger scale.

JR Graffiti at the station and on the approach to the station affects train operating companies also due to the public perception of graffiti which is reflected in passenger safety and security questionnaires completed by the public.

SR PSP for York Middlesbrough Service – We travelled on this train recently at the reported problematic times and found this to be the case. We will continue to travel on the service wherever possible.

AC We have had very positive feedback from everyone involved, the conductors think it’s fantastic. A big thank you to everyone involved.

SR Our last operation was a success but we are now only looking at the 2026 service as the earlier service had no problems reported. Could a reminder be given to all staff to ensure the reporting of problems when they occur?

The matter regarding York races came up and the fact that Coopers bar SSP made a request regarding an area to be sectioned off outside the pub to stop people spilling onto the road. This request had been refused at the PACT Group Meeting level but may be worth re-considering.

ACTION: JR to find out the problems associated with the closed off area.

NEWCASTLE- NORTH SECTOR

SR PSP for anti social behaviour in Portico – This was discussed in detail at the last meeting, we decided that this was a problem due to the lack of CCTV and lighting in the area. We have now pushed ahead and have secured overtime for extra patrols in the area. We have liaised closely with the taxi drivers and encouraged them to report all incidents to ourselves. Work around this PSP is ongoing.

JR Site surveys in this area have gone ahead and specific places have been identified for the cameras. Four CCTV cameras will be in place by the end of May.

(Action completed)

JR Regarding the charity boxes did East Coast agree did implementing them

SS No - after a meeting East Coat MD decided that it was not an appropriate method of charity giving. They are involved in other charitable causes and felt at this time the charity box idea would not be pursued.

Doncaster- South Sector

SR PSP for anti social behaviour – We are now coming close to the end date for our section 30 dispersal order. The Intelligence department has analysed the results to date and this suggests that Section 30 has improved crime figures in that they have been reduced in the area. What we would like to do is to get everyone involved to give us their opinion and decide whether or not to renew the order, to help us with this action we have some questionnaires produced by the quality assurance department. We will be disseminating them very soon and hopefully get a wide range of coverage and good feedback in relation to the public’s perception of anti-social behaviour at Doncaster Station and the locality.

ALL Everyone agreed that this was a good idea and that they would support the action.

JIM The layout of the station front does not help much due to the recess area, it was a planning mistake. There have been no smoking signs placed on the ground although they not very effective as they do not cover the whole area. More signs have been ordered.

SR- Thanked everyone for attending the meeting
