Travel Fellowships

Guidelines for application

1)

The awards of £750 each are designed to enableearly-career HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS CONDUCTING RESEARCH in the respiratory field in the UK to attend this important meeting (laboratory scientists are excluded).Queries regarding eligibility should be directed to .

Awards are to contribute towards the costs of registration, accommodation and travel. Candidates must be actively involved in research and be the author of an abstract submitted to the European Respiratory Society for the meeting.10 BLF-Napp Pharmaceuticals awards are available for the ERS Conference 2017.

The award can only be used to contribute towards the following items:

  • Registration fees for ERS
  • Travel, including Air Travel to ERS. This must comply with the ABPI clause 22.1 (i.e. Economy class only).
  • Non-luxury accommodation (which must comply with the ABPI clause 22.1)

Successful applicants are of course permitted to use private funds to upgrade modes of travel and accommodationbut must organise and pay at their own expense the genuine difference e.g. between economy travel and business class or first class.

Please complete the application form and return an electronic copy of your application and abstract(s) by e-mail to the Head of Research . NOTE: The electronic version of your application and abstract(s) should be sent as a SINGLEWord or PDF file – please do not send two separate files.

The deadline for application is 9am, 10July 2017 and applicants will be informed of the outcome in lateAugust/early September2017.

Successful applicants will be expected to collect their award at an eveningdinner event held by the British Lung Foundation during the Congress in Milan. Funds will not be available beforehand. The date and details of the dinner will be confirmed to successful applicants.Representatives from the British Lung Foundation and Napp Pharmaceuticals will also be in attendance at the dinner.

In the event that an applicantis awarded a travel fellowship to the ERS Conference 2017by another organisation, the applicant must withdraw their application to the British Lung Foundation and inform the Head of Research of this in writing (email).

Previous winners of a BLF-Napp Pharmaceuticalstravel award are not eligible for future BLF-Napp Pharmaceuticals awards.

Should the BLF offer several travel fellowship award types (e.g. with different partners/sponsors) to the SAME conference, individuals are permitted to apply for multiple awards, but can be awarded a maximum of one award per conference.

If your application is successful you will be asked to write a report of your conference experiences and how the award was of benefit for one of our publications and/or to help raise the profile of the British Lung Foundation.Winners must acknowledge BLF/Napp Pharmaceuticals support in any presentations, posters, press releases, news articles, announcements etc. related to their accepted application/abstract e.g. by displaying the BLFlogo,adding a statement that the presentation of this data was supported by a BLF travel fellowship sponsored by Napp Pharmaceuticals Limitedandwearing a BLF badge during the conference. Winners will also be automatically enrolled in the BLF Alumni scheme and will be expected to support this scheme, for example by attending future BLF Alumni conference events. Napp Pharmaceuticals have no input into the BLF Alumni scheme.
