HOUSE POINT WINNERS THIS WEEK – PANTHERS

HOUSE POINT WINNERS THIS HALF TERM – PANTHERS - NON UNIFORM ON FRIDAY

Hello everyone

Thank you to everyone who came into school wearing their bright colours. The hall was a dazzling display as we started our safety week. Lots of activities are going on throughout the week to encourage everyone to think about their own safety and the safety of others too.

Last Friday we came together as a school to give thanks for Harvest. Each class had their own important part to play and everyone did a super job. To date the contributions we have received total £138.38. If you haven’t already donated and would still like to, we will be sending a cheque to Christian Aid so that this money can go towards their refugee appeal. All monies collected by then will be sent on Friday. Have a look on our website in the “Special Events” section for some photographs!

We were invaded by pirates last Friday. Reception class were hunting for treasure and assured me that they were friendly pirates. There are pictures on the website (www.brinscall.lancs.sch.uk ) of events which have gone on throughout the term. In Year 1 they have been investigating the story of Farmer Duck and went out on a village walk for geography and road safety. Year 2 children have been busy finishing their alternative Red Riding Hood tales as well as practising their ‘Journeys’ dance routine which will be shared with parents tomorrow. In the junior classes the children have been busy with their safety week activities as well as getting ready for “Bikeability” in Year 6.

There will be a few new faces in school over the next few weeks/months as we welcome students and trainee teachers from the University of Cumbria and Edge Hill into school.

Have a lovely holiday and fingers crossed for some decent weather. Looking forward to seeing everyone back safe and well on Monday 2nd November. Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Linda Clayton

PARKING FINES – A MESSAGE FROM LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

Lancashire County Council is changing the way parking is enforced to make it more likely that drivers who park illegally will receive a penalty.

A decision made this week by the county council's cabinet member for highways and transport, means that someone who drives off while receiving a penalty will still get their notice through the post, even if an enforcement officer has only started writing it out. Adopting this practice is intended to provide a stronger deterrent to drivers who park illegally with the expectation they will have time to move their vehicle and therefore avoid receiving a penalty if they see enforcement being carried out. This change does not affect the way parking is enforced in any other way. For example Civil Enforcement Officers will continue to observe a vehicle parked on double yellow lines for five minutes before issuing a penalty, and will continue to issue a penalty instantly to a vehicle parked illegally where no waiting and no stopping is allowed – such as on yellow zig-zag lines outside schools.

You can see full details of the decision here:
