Ø  Section 3, Job Descriptions Rule #38

§  Illness and disease related to Bloodborne pathogens is transmitted through blood, and body fluids (ie. semen, vaginal secretions, vomit, saliva, loose skin and body tissue). Under no circumstances is a person to administer first aid or any other emergency care without proper training such as certified by American Red Cross or equivalent.

Ø  Section 29 Blood-borne Pathogens

§  Follow Universal Precautions. An approach to infection control. According to the concept of Universal Precautions, all human blood and certain human body fluids are treated as if known to be infectious for HIV, HBV, and other Bloodborne pathogens.

§  Hand washing is paramount in reducing the risk to exposed skin. If a washing facility is not available use antiseptic wipes provided in any Brieser First Aid or Bloodborne Pathogen kits.

§  Use your PPE provided to you in the Bloodborne Pathogen kit located in any Brieser Vehicle.

§  If an exposure does occur please fill out a Brieser incident report. See your supervisor for details. An incident report will trigger a Post Exposure Evaluation. Brieser shall make available the Hepatitis B vaccine and vaccination series to all employees who have occupational exposure.
