‘Does the Council think that the general standard of cleanliness of the town, especially around the steps, along the cliff walkway and some sections of river bank, are acceptable? What role does the Council have in keeping our environment clear of litter? Is there any further action we could take as a Council and as a community to make Bridgnorth a cleaner town for residents and for visitors?’

20. Finance

Members are asked to note that the accounts for the previous financial year were closed on 1st May 2015, as a result the accounts for April 2015 have only recently been prepared. Year End adjustments have resulted in the reversal of Year End accruals in month 1 but in some cases invoices for expenditure have not yet been received.

Members are asked to authorise the signing of invoices for payment and those invoices paid in between meetings.

22.Schedule of Meetings

Members are asked to note that at the CCTV Committee meeting held on 30th March 2015 it was stated that regular meetings of the CCTV Committee should take place.

23.Annual Review of Members Allowances

a)Members are asked to resolve that the allowances for the Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor are:

i)Town Mayor£2000 2015 - 2016

ii)Deputy Town Mayor£ 300 2015– 2016

b)Members

Members are asked to resolve whether they wish to continue with the previous system of non-payment of allowances which are required to be reviewed on an annual basis.

c)Subsistence Allowances

Members to agree to consider setting SubsistenceAllowances.

d)Mileage Allowance

Members are asked to confirm that the mileage allowance, in line with national guidelines @ 0.45p per mile, is the rate used by Bridgnorth Town Council.

24.Low Town Community Hall

Members will receive a verbal update with regard to the Low Town Community Hall from the Town Clerk.

25.Grants

Members are asked to reconsider a grant application from Bridgnorth Jazz Festival following receipt of the attached correspondence.

26.Standing Orders and Financial Regulations

Members are asked to note that the Standing Orders and Financial Regulations are under review and the final version, for adoption, will be taken to the Town Council meeting being held on Tuesday 16th June 2015.

27.Town Council Insurance

Members are asked to note that the Town Council insurance is due for renewal in August 2015 and it is proposed that the coverage will not be changed.

28.New Councillor

Members are asked to confirm that our new Councillor, Mrs Pauline Harris, be included in the Unity Bank mandate.

29.Motion proposed by Councillor R Whittle OBE

Members are asked to consider the following motion from Councillor R Whittle OBE

"In view of the fact that the loss of over £5.5K shown in the provisional accounts for Events does not appear to include any element of staff, administration or direct labour force input from the Council, the Council imposes a moratorium on any additional events until all these costs and the time taken is clearly identified. These costs and time taken should include any consequent overtime, road closure costs, erection of bunting etc.The Council will thus be enabled to make an informed decision as to its future role in such events."

30.Christmas Lights 2015

Following the presentation made by the Chamber of Commerce at the previous meeting of Bridgnorth Town Council regarding Christmas Lighting, Members are asked to consider their request to establish a Working Party to progress proposals for volunteers to erect the Christmas Lighting in the town.

31. Correspondence from Shropshire Council

Members are asked to consider nominating a representative to attend the annual Emergency Planning Briefing as per the attached correspondence.
