Perseverance is October’s Character Trait

Have you ever worked at something that has taken a really long time or has been really challenging for you, but you never gave up? Have you ever set a goal and worked at reaching it until you did? If so, then you showed perseverance! When you persevere, you keep going even if it’s tough. Perseverance means that what you’re facing at the moment might not be the easiest, but you know that all of your effort will be worth it when you get what you want. Perseverance takes a strong mind and a positive attitude that can stand up to any obstacles that will come your way. Perseverance starts with positive self-talk, like “I can do it,” “I am capable,” or “I will make it.” Practice saying positive things to yourself and start building your perseverance today!

Veteran’s Day Concert –Our Fourth Grade classes would like to invite their friends and family to attend Christensen’s Veterans Day music concert, dedicated to and honoring our Veterans! On Tuesday, November 10th, our Fourth Graders will be singing about our Veterans, thanking them, and sharing some knowledge about Veteran’s Day. Please join us on Tuesday, November 10th, at 6:30 pm to honor and say thank you to the men and women who work so hard for our country.

Hearing & Vision Screening Day will be held on October 22nd. Every Child will be evaluated and a report from our health aid will be sent home if there is a concern about your child’s hearing or vision.

CHILD FIND - Free developmental screening for children 3-5 who live in the Franklin Pierce School District. We check: hearing, vision, readiness for kindergarten, speech and language, motor skills, and behavior. Monthly screenings for 2015-2016 / Oct. 21, Nov. 19, Jan. 14, Feb. 11, March 11, and April 15. Call Tricia for an appointment at Franklin Pierce School District, Learning Support Services (253) 298-4675.

Early Dismissals - Please come to the main office to sign your child out ( YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SHOW I.D. EVERY TIME) Christensen does not release students between 3:30-4:00, because students are receiving final instructions and this causes students to miss information and class disruptions. If you need to pick up your child, please do so before 3:30pm. One of our office staff will be happy to call your child up from the classroom. We do ask that you wait in the office so that we know your child is safely with you before leaving campus. ~Thank you for your cooperation and understanding~

COOLER WEATHER IS HERE– Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather – don’t forget a coat… all children go outside for recess every day. If your child has lost a coat this school year, please check our lost and found.
