1./ Read the following text and decide if sentences a -d are TRUE or FALSE. Circle the correct option
BREAKDANCING
Breakdancing started among the street-wise youngsters of the South Bronx and it has spread all over the world. The international interest in breakdance is incredible. People around the world are amazed by this dance, except a group of Africans who have been doing the dance for hundreds of years.
In Africa only men, whose ages may range from young adulthood to about 50 years old, do this style of social dancing. The men don’t fight – they dance to see who is the best. But how did this African social dance find its way to the streets of New York? It seems that in the late 1960s many professional West African dancers came to America and settled in the Bronx, N.Y. Many of these dancers offered dance classes to professional American dance companies. Many American companies also went to Africa to study. The knowledge was used in performances at public schools, museums, community centres, etc., and sitting in the audience were the breakers of today, soaking it all up.
Today, the word “breaking“ is greatly misused. People tend to regard all street dancing as breakdance, which is not correct. Breakdance consists mainly of moves that are done on the floor.
