Title: Fire-stops for cable penetrations
Fire-stops for cables laid on the floor through walls according to EN 13501. The fire-stops consist of a three-sided enclosure made of sheet steel covered with packages inside which contain fire protection material foaming in case of fire. Both, the fire-stop and the smoke gas sealing must work independently. Functionality may not be interrupted during subsequent installations. The fire-stops are delivered prefabricated and ready for installation. They are placed in the wall opening and screwed on the ground; the entire space around the fire-stop must be filled with mortar for the entire depth of the wall. The fire-stops are installed according to the enclosed installation instructions. The smoke gas sealing is warranted by EasyFoam stoppers on both sides of the cable box. The stoppers are roughly cut to size and pushed into the openings. All remaining openings are sealed smoke-proof with a permanently flexible sealant such as silicone or acrylic.
Approved by the DIBt in Berlin, approval number ETA-13/0902. The fire-stop is delivered with a set of installation instructions and 2 EasyFoam stoppers.
The following requirements are fulfilled by the EI90 UFK Cable Boxes “System Wichmann“ ®:
- Fire resistance class EI90 in accordance with EN 13501
- Approved for all types of sheathed cables with a diameter up to 50 mm and for cable bundles
- Approved for flexible and inflexible electrical installation conduits according to EN 61386 with a diameter up to 63 mm, with or without cables
- The fire-stop can be filled 100% with cables, tubes and conduits; it is impossible to overload the fire-stop
- One-sided sealing is possible, even without mineral wool
- No distances must be observed between cables or conduits
- Certificate for the noise insulation qualities
- Subsequent installations can be made easily and completely dust-free
- The used materials must be odourless
- Installation and maintenance do not require any special fire protection materials bound to the approval (e.g. fire protection putty)
- No additional toxic gases may be generated by the fire-stop in case of fire
- Systems of the same quality standard are permitted; the quality standard must be the same in all aspects; the same fire resistance class is not sufficient; mineral fibre, mortar and foam fire-stops are not perceived as equal standard
