1.Purpose of Document

The purpose of this document is to capture the requirements and design specification for a SaMC Charge Code in one document.

2.Introduction

2.1Background

Voltage SupportServices can be provided by Generating Units or other equipment such as shunt capacitors, static var compensators, or synchronous condensers. All Generating Units are required by the ISO Tariff to provide reactive power by operating within a power factor range of 0.90 lag and 0.95 lead.

Prior to the implementation of MRTU, this Charge Code was used in association with Voltage Support payments from RMR Contracts to reimburse the Transmission Ownerand charge the Market. With MRTU, the PTO will bear the cost for this service. Any future non-RMR contract that the CAISO enters into to provide Voltage Support will be paid under this Charge Code. The amount of the Voltage Support payment is defined by the contract. Contracted entities will be paid through this Charge Code with the allocation to Business Associates calculated in CC 1302.

This is a PTB – Direct Charge where only the Settlement Amount is provided.
