Boys Town Texas Hosts 5k/10k Run/Walk to Prevent Child Abuse
For Immediate Release –Thursday, April 3, 2014
San Antonio – More than 800 runners are expected to join Boys Town and Valero Energy in the race to prevent child abuse on Saturday, April 12, 2014. The 5k/10k run/walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. The course starts at the Valero Energy Headquarters building, One Valero Way San Antonio, Texas, and continues through LeonCreek Greenway with runners arriving back at Valero to cross the finish line.
“The Race for Prevention of Child Abuse is critical to Boys Town Texas as the majority of children we serve live in their own homes in the community and we want to prevent abuse and neglect from ever occurring,” said Janie Cook, Boys Town Texas Executive Director. “It is much easier to prevent abuse than to heal the physical and emotional scars left after abuse.”
Participants will be given t-shirts and will be eligible for door prizes. Runners are invited to pick up their race packet prior to the race on April 9-11 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Boys Town Texas. Registration and packets will be available on the day of the event as well.
“We are so pleased that Valero has agreed to be the event sponsor for the fourth year,” said Cook“They are an extremely generous community minded organization.”
