Boys Bantam U9 Lacrosse
League intentions: To introduce the game of lacrosse to younger players and include the spirit of the NCJLA and it’s mission to create more opportunities for players to play our great game.
The Bantam U-9 will play under the following guidelines.
All rules of lacrosse will be used with the addition to the following changes:
- All players must have a birth year of 2000 or younger to participate. They may not be 9 years old on December 31, 2008.
- The game will be played by two teams of 7 players each.
- 1 goalie
- 2 defensemen
- 2 midfielders
- 2 attackmen
- The Division is open to boys and girls
- Jerseys can consist of single, solid color, numbers shall be on the front and back
Pennies may be used and undershirts can be of the same single color
Shorts of the same color is encouraged, but not required.
- All games will be officiated by one designated team coach from each team. If is preferred you wear striped referees uniform. It is encouraged to use young officials within each respected Club to officiate these games.
- The game will be played with full pads as in the Boys game including helmet, gloves, arm pads and shoulder pads. Cups will be required for all boys players. Mouthpieces are required of all players, but may not include clear or white color.
- Shoes are required, cleats are recommended
- All goals will count as one (1) point.
- There will be no league standings at this level.
- The field will be rectangular, between 53.5 and 60 yards long and should be approximately 35-40 yards wide. Crease marked off 6 feet radius, flat cones can be used to designate field dimensions.
- Goals shall be from an opening that is 4 feet wide and 4 feet high (inside measurements).
- Goals shall be approximately 10-12 yards from each end-line.
- Goal creases around each goal shall be plainly marked circle. Thiscircle shall be marked by using the midpoint of the goal line as the center and drawing a circle with a radium of approximately 6 feet.
- A standard lacrosse ball will be used. It may be of any color as long as both coaches agree prior to any ball other than WHITE being put into play.
- Crosses may be of any length between 36 and 42 inches.
- Playing time of a game shall be four periods of 10 minutes running time.
- All penalties shall be stopped time.
- Half time will be 8 minutes long
- Two players must remain on their offensive side of the field at all times.
- Three players must remain on the defensive side of the field at all times.
- Body checking is NOT allowed. Body checking is defined as a deliberate intent of a player initiating body to body contact. “Boxing out” an opponent is encouraged within five yards of a loose ball.
- Checking an opponent’s crosse with his own crosse when that opponent has possession of the ball or is within five yards of a loose ball or when the ball in flight is within five yards of the player, is legal.
