BOYD BRONCO TENNIS

Policies, Procedure, and Expectations

Each Player is expected to:

·  Comply and follow all policies of McKinney ISD athletics, MISD Code of Conduct, District 10-5A, Texas UIL, and USTA court conduct, policies, and procedures.

·  Follow the safety rules of the team

·  Respect coaches, team members, opponents, umpires, and parents (Arguing, complaining, etc about a decisions made by captains, coaches, umpires, etc will not be tolerated)

·  Care for and help maintain the condition of all equipment and uniforms provided by the school. You are responsible for the cost of replacing damaged or lost uniforms and/or equipment.

·  Attend all practices and always be on time (If you are unable to attend a practice you must alert Coach Crawford PRIOR to the absence; by 11 AM for 6th & 7th period). It IS NOT acceptable to send a message through another person. Missed practices will result in conditioning, loss of playing time, loss of position, participation points, etc. You are expected to remain at practice until the end of the period.

·  Come prepared to practice with a Boyd Bronco Shirt, school colored shorts/skirts/sweats, tennis court shoes, rackets, etc. 6th and 7th period practice will start promptly 5 minutes after the tardy bell for that period. You must be ready to play with shoes on and tied at these times. Coming unprepared may result in loss of position, participation points, etc.

·  You are allowed 3 unexcused absences/season. The 4th unexcused absence will result in possible match suspension. The 5th unexcused absence could result in suspension from the team. Missed practice prior to a match can result in loss of playing time

·  Travel to away matches AND from away matches together as a team.

·  Attend and remain at all home and away matches until all players have completed their matches.

·  Maintain a team environment by cheering, encouraging, and watching your teammates as they play when you have completed your matches

·  Wear Boyd tennis attire (Boyd tennis t-shirts and school color shorts/skirts (blue/navy, red, black, gray, white, pink) when practicing or playing with the team; if you look like a team, you play like a team! Failure to dress accordingly will result in consequences and conditioning.

·  Comply with the Boyd High School dress code, MISD dress code, and the Boyd Tennis dress code (no clothing with another High Schools logo, short/groomed hair for males, no facial hair, no lip, brow, or other piercings, etc). Your appearance should be one that upholds the honor of the Boyd Tennis program.

·  Set goals for themselves and for the team and strive to meet those goals as well as encourage and help teammates attain their goals as well.

·  Carry yourself on and off the field with integrity. You are not only representing yourself, but also your team, Boyd High School, the coaches, and your parents. Integrity and strong character are qualities that all Boyd High School Tennis athletes are to express and exercise.

·  Demonstrate the Bronco Way by showing respect to peers, teachers, and school administration within the classroom, maintain passing grades, arrive to class on time and remain in good standing (no ISS, OSS, detentions) within the school walls.

·  Conferences with player and/or with parents will be held by appointment only and must be scheduled at least a day in advance. They will not be held before, during, or after any match and will be used to discuss how the player can improve his/her skills and playing ability (playing position, playing time, etc will not be discussed). The focus will be solely on that particular player and no other players will be discussed.

* Lack of commitment or follow through for each of these expectations can result in consequences for the player. Please remember, tennis is a game and should be fun! The opportunity to play sports is a privilege.
