New Scout Membership Application
On behalf of Boy Scout Troop 82, we thank you for your interest in joining our Troop. Our application materials are available online on the Troop 82 web site.
How to Access Online Forms
1. Please log on to the Troop 82 web site at www.hptroop82.org.
2. From left menu bar, click “New Scout Invitation.”
3. Follow the instructions to complete and submit all forms by e-mail to .
4. Mail the signed Youth application, Adult application and Release to Eric Gambrell, Recruiting Chair, at the address below.
How and Why to Complete Youth Protection Training
Boy Scouts of America and Troop 82 require all adult volunteers, regardless of position, to complete Youth Protection Training. For you to be involved with your son and his scouting friends, Youth Protection Training is required by BSA. Youth Protection Training is offered and taken online. The training takes about 30 minutes or so to complete. A copy of your certificate of completion is required to be submitted with your application. Your application for membership will not be accepted or processed without a copy of your certificate of completion.
1. Go to http://www.MyScouting.org and create an account.
2. From the MyScouting.org portal, click on E-Learning and take the Youth Protection training.
3. Upon completion, you may print a certificate of completion to submit to the Troop 82 Recruiting Chair.
Registration Fee
There is a $60 one time, nonrefundable Troop 82 registration fee. Please make your check payable to “Troop 82” and mail your check to Eric Gambrell at the address below.
Class Size; Waiting List
We are extremely proud of the fact that Troop 82 has experienced tremendous interest in membership over the past several years. While Troop leaders wish to welcome everyone into scouting in Troop 82, we must restrict the number of members accepted due to the size of our meeting facility and other program constraints. Troop leadership begins collecting applications in February of each year and, once we have completed applications from the number with which we are comfortable, we will start a waiting list. We won’t know whether or not we can accept those on the waiting list until openings occur, which are handled on a case-by-case basis throughout the summer and even as late as early in the fall when the scout year begins. Therefore, the sooner you can provide a complete application package, the better.
Spring Court of Honor
There will be a Troop 82 Spring Court of Honor on May 12, 2014. New Scouts that have been accepted will be invited to attend and be introduced to the Troop at that time. New Scout programming will begin in September.
