Bowling Machine Policy

Kineton Sports and Social Cricket Club

The Bowling Machine is for the use of ALL the members of the Club.

The Committee has agreed that any USER wishing to make use of the Bowling Machine MUST follow the guidelines set out below:

  1. You may only use the Bowling Machine if accompanied by a qualified User.
  2. Any member using the machine does so at his or her own risk.
  3. The qualified User accepts full responsibility for the equipment. He/She must ensure the safety of all people using the machine whilst in their care. All Users must inform people of the importance of Health and Safety and the implied acceptance of the 'Rules of Use' by reading the User notes.
  4. Any User that breaches the manufacturers recommended operating procedures does so completely at their own risk and the Club will accept no liability for the User's failure to comply.
  5. Any User found to be using the machine improperly will be suspended from further use and may lead to disciplinary action.
  6. All Users must complete the USAGE FORM prior to taking the machine.
  7. The Club reserves the right to introduce hiring charges should the Committee feel the need to.
  8. Any User causing damage may be liable for repair charges.
  9. Any User signing the USAGE FORM accepts FULL responsibility for the machine and all sundries including balls. Any loss or damage will result in the User being liable for replacement or repair charges.
  10. Any User either in breach of any of the 'Rules of Use' risks suspension from further use and possible disciplinary action.
  11. Nobody under the age of 18 MAY OPERATE the bowling machine.

RULES FOR USE OF THE BOWLING MACHINE

Particular care must be taken when the bowling machine is used in the outdoor nets or

during indoor practice.The following safety guidelines must be followed:

  • The coach will always have overall responsibility for the operation of the bowlingmachine.
  • All necessary regulations concerning the supply of electricity to the machine andthe manufacturer’s recommendations must be strictly adhered to
  • Batsmen must take the opportunity to observe several deliveries before takingstrike.
  • During practice, no adjustments to the machine will be made without the batsmenbeing advised before receiving another delivery.
  • Adjustments to the machine will only be made under the supervision of the coach.
  • The feeder will always ensure that the batsman is ready and will indicate to himthat he is about to feed the next delivery.
  • Balls should be inspected prior to use and rejected if worn or damaged.
  • Do not increase the bowling speed above that which the individual batsman canplay with some degree of certainty.
  • When certain strokes are practiced, it is advisable for the feeder to have some formof physical protection.
