Bowling for Fitness

COURSE DESCRITION:

This class is designed to encourage physical activity in an alternative environment. Students will be taught how to select a ball, appropriate footwork (both the 4 and 5 step approach), proper bowling technique, scoring and strategy. Students will participate in a bowling tournament at the conclusion of the course.

EXPECTATIONS:

  1. Demonstrate respect for people and property around you.
  2. Be prepared.Plan ahead and know your daily schedule. Make sure to bring the necessary items to class (i.e. socks)
  3. Do not wear skirts or dresses on bowling days or bring a change of clothes. You must change at school and be on time as always.
  4. Use the restroom before or after class. Due to travel time, our class period is short, so we have to make the most out of our time.
  5. Be on time!The bus will be leaving the MediaCenter turnaround no later than 5 minutes after bell rings. If you miss the bus, you miss class!! Hopefully, this will never happen, but in the case that it does, you must immediately report to Mrs. Barnes to let her know that you are tardy. If you do not report to Mrs. Barnes, you will be counted as absent for the class. Again, we must make the most out of our time together.
  6. Laptops should not be used in class. Please leave them at school in a secure place.Cell phones are also not permitted, either at school or off campus.
  7. Please be respectful of one another while riding the bus. No horseplay or acting up will be permitted. Any unruly behavior will carry severe consequences and could lead to being dismissed from the class.
  8. Represent yourself and your school well at all times. Since this is the only course offered by the academy that takes place off campus, it is important for the class to be a model representative for our school.
  9. We are not allowed to enter any areas other than the lanes and shoe check out desk. If you have an emergency see instructor and the matter will be addressed accordingly.

  2. Enter your name and your name only in the scoring unit.
  3. Support your classmates in a positive manner. When your classmates are responding and/or participating in class, respect them. We want this class to be a safe and fun environment, where we can freely fail and succeed as we improve our bowling and teamwork skills.

GRADING POLICIES:

Each student will be evaluated based on behavior, participation, and effort. Any student with more than three unexcused absences (tardies) during the semester will be required to have a parent-teacher conference and complete extra assignments to make up for absences.

All in all, let’s work together and have a great time. Please do your very best, have a positive and pleasant attitude, and enjoy your time in this class. We will have fun while learning and competing together.
