Bottle Your Lung Directions

1. You and your partner will need the following items:

·  Water bottle

·  2 balloons

·  Rubber band

·  Straw

·  Some play-doh (maybe)

2. Connect one of the balloons to the straw using the rubber band. End b. of the straw needs to be down in the balloon, not just in the neck of it (it should not touch the bottom of the balloon). When you are attaching the balloon with the rubber band, do not make the rubber band too tight or it will crush the straw.

3. Place tip a. of the straw through hole in the bottle’s cap, so the mouth of the balloon is close to the tap. If there are any openings between the hole of the bottle cap and the straw, use a little bit of play-doh to seal it off.

4. Place the rest of the water bottle around the straw/balloon model. Cut off the tip of the second balloon at the end you would use to blow it up. Place it around the open bottom of the water bottle. Be sure that there is a good seal so no air can get in or out.

5. Gently push and pull on the bottom balloon and answer the questions on the back of this sheet.
