Increase in vehicle theft ( particularly high speck vehicles ) suspected at this time to be part of an organised group not thought to be local.Various departments including Traffic / Stolen Unit Vehicle working jointly on this.
Festival Action Plan underway with extra officer on patrol during December to address the increase in night time economy.

May have enquiry in relation to an incidents on Main St, Bothwell on Sunday as there were a number of police vehicles in the area. Police responded to a report of a vehicle on its roof at the Raith Interchange. Transpires two people ran from the vehicle and a search was then underway for their safety and determine criminality.

The following incidents were reported and have been passed on to the police:

  • Ongoing problem of “off the road” bikes on undeveloped ground on the Blantyre side of the River Clyde across from Bothwell.
  • the theft of articles from vehicles in Kirklands Crescent

9. Projects/Activities Update

9.1Planning: S.Jones / M.McLaughlin

Several domestic planning applications lodged with the only exception of the following application deemed worthy of discussion.

HM/14/0397 Building of two dwelling- houses on the Bellshill Road This Planning Application promoted some discussion re- Potential of neighbouring land becoming “land locked”resulting in access to land being denied. no action required.

CALA Homes - Bothwell Bank Development - Meeting 26th Nov 2014 -Report NON/MMcL.

Main Issues

  • SLC response to the following points:
  • CALA Homes Bothwellbank Plan App –validity questioned/ clarification of actual proposal. SLC have asked the developer to amend the boundary of the application to exclude Area 3
  • Full traffic assessment and parking access study for Clyde Avenue considering the impact of the whole site. (i.e. considering likely capacity of site taking into account proposed house types with high car ownership) was requested. SLC are awaiting a response from Roads Dept
  • Minimise additional traffic using Clyde Avenue. i.e Access for CALA mid site (private) accessed from new access road off Blantyre Mill Road as per consultation proposal. SLCAs per 2 above.
  • How will Area 3 be accessed? SLC are unaware of any proposal for Area 3 and therefore no access proposals currently exist.

Bothwell Dry Cleaners Planning Application for Illuminated Sign

  • A letter of objection to the scale and design of the proposed sign was submitted by BCC to South Lanarkshire Council. D.B. .

9.2 Wooddean Park Project D.Brown

  • Appointment and Rejection letters have been issued to PMR Leisure and Sportslabs Scotland Ltd.
  • PMR have accepted the appointment subject to an exchange of letters and our acceptance of their Terms & Conditions.
  • A press release has been drafted but not yet issued. We are sending out holding D.B. statements in response to press enquiries emanating from our last published minutes. Action.

9.3 Roads and Pavements NONeil

M74 Works

  • M74 works continuing around Whistleberry Roundabout, Raith Interchange, and more recently M74 between Raith and Maryville.
  • NON contacted SRP on 19th Nov regarding ongoing updates on works, and also to address request cessation of contractor parking in lay-by opposite Fireplace World.
  • No further update/correspondence from residents of Wordsworth Way.

Bothwell Bank Development

  • BCC attended meeting with SLC planners on 26 Nov to discuss planning application and specifically impact of traffic on village – see planning summary report.
  • Proposed South Lanarkshire Council Loading & Accessibility study – no further update.

9.4Community Notice Board.

Strong defence prepared - (photos etc) to be given as evidence at Hearing 17 December2014. I.B.

Assessor has agreed that Notice Board is wrongly categorised. Deletion from Valuation Roll - letter to follow.

9.5 BCC Website - A.M. Mulder

It was agreed to wait until January before progressing work on the Web site.

9.6 Community Liaison – E.Speedie / M.McLaughlin

Update is the sending of a table of contacts amalgamated so far with regards to Community Organisations. An email is being sent to email addresses to introduce myself and try and get more details where I can. I will ensure this table is constantly updated by myself but I will hold the master copy.
Mary and I plan to attend the meeting at Bothwell Library on Thursday 11th December, now starting

at 6pm.Will issue update after that meeting. EW/MMcL

Traders in Bothwell Main Street - Informal discussion arose.

It was agreed that this topic would necessarily promote a major discussion early in the New Year.
